Five Toyota Camry XSE’s fill Top-Seven Finishing Positions

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (September 28, 2025) – Denny Hamlin was the highest-finishing Toyota driver as he brought home a runner-up finish in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) race at Kansas Speedway. Hamlin lead a race-high 159 laps. Hamlin’s Toyota teammates filled the rest of the top-five with Christopher Bell (third), Chase Briscoe (fourth), and Bubba Wallace (fifth) rounding out the top-five and fellow Toyota driver Tyler Reddick posting a seventh-place finish.

The 2-3-4-5 result marks just the 14th time four Toyota Camrys have finished inside the top five in a Cup Series race.

Hamlin leads all Toyota drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series playoff standings, currently sitting second overall. Bell is third, Briscoe seventh, Wallace 10th and Reddick 11th with one race remaining in the Round of 12.

TOYOTA QUOTES

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 Sport Clips Haircuts Toyota Camry XSE, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

How would you describe this day?

“It’s super disappointing. Obviously I wanted it bad. It would have been 60 (wins) for me. The team just did an amazing job with the car. It was really, really fast. They gave me everything I needed. Got the restart I needed, I just couldn’t finish there on the last corner. I got really, really, tight with the 23 (Bubba Wallace) and let the 9 (Chase Elliott) win.”

This place seems to be tough to solve for you?

“Just mechanical failures and different things have really hindered us in years past. We had no power steering on the last run and low voltage, just a lot of things. I’m just disappointed because I’ve never had a car that good to the competition. I wanted it for my dad, I wanted it for everybody. I wanted it a little too hard.”

CHRISTOPHER BELL, No. 20 Rheem Toyota Camry XSE, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 3rd

How would you have done the last restart any differently?

“I honestly don’t know what I could have done. I’m leaving here feeling pretty satisfied. That was a bummer when I lost the lead on the restart when I caught the wrong timing line. Looking back, it was such a 50/50 call on those restarts whether you wanted to be on the outside or the inside. I don’t know what I would have done differently. I felt like we left it all on the table.”

Does being 24 points above the cutline going to the Roval give you enough breathing room?

“It was rewarding to be restarting on that front row and knowing that if I win I advance, and I get out of here and don’t win, that we are in a really good spot. I’m proud of our team. We are doing a really good job of controlling what we can control and getting good finishes out of it and we are running well too. I’m excited about the Roval, we’ve been really excited about the road courses and we have some breathing room, so it should be a lot of fun.”

CHASE BRISCOE, No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry XSE, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 4th

How much of your job was to push Christopher Bell and how much was get what you could for the 19 team?

“It was tough. I’ve never really been in a situation like that, where I needed really anybody but Bubba to win in that situation. I wanted to still put it in a position where I could still win the race too. It was just tough with those restarts. They’re so circumstantial. One thing goes your way, and you can end up winning the race. One bad thing goes your way, and you end up running fifth to seventh. Just crazy the runs and how fast they develop. I thought I was going to still have a really good shot to win the race and when Bell got in the fence off of (turn) four, I had to all but stop, and it just ruined my momentum. Scrappy day for our Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Toyota. Would have loved to be obviously a little bit better today. Crazy, I think we’re averaging a top-five finish in the playoffs and we’re only 20 points above. Never feel safe at the Roval, but go there and try to do our job. Our road course stuff is pretty good there. See what we can do.”

Were you thinking you had to do whatever you could do gain points?

“That was the hard thing. That second-to-last restart, I had a huge run out of the back straightaway, and I thought I could clear, potentially. So I tried to make it three wide, but looking back on it, maybe it would have been better to hit the 20 (Christopher Bell) as hard as I could and try to get him to the lead. But it is so crazy on those restarts. You’re making split-second decisions. One variable can change, and what you thought was the right move is the wrong move. Crazy race. I’m sure it was fun to watch and go on to the next one.”

BUBBA WALLACE, No. 23 U.S Air Force Toyota Camry XSE, 23XI Racing

Finishing Position: 5th

What do you think of the racing there at the end?

“To say we had a shot at the win with the way we started, you could have fooled me. We were not good. We missed it on the fire-off speed. I just really appreciate the team. Two years ago I’d probably say something dumb. Or say he’s a dumbass for that move. I don’t care if he’s my boss or not. But we’re going for the win. I hate that we gave it away there. Toyotas were super-fast, and proud to be driving one. I thought it was meant to be, and then it wasn’t. All in all the positives were we are minus 26 coming in — or minus 27 coming in. We’re minus 26 leaving. We gained a point.”

TYLER REDDICK, No. 45 The Beast Toyota Camry XSE, 23XI Racing

Finishing Position: 7th

Would you have done anything different on the final restart?

“I just tried to give him the best push I could. I was really fortunate the previous restart that he was able to hold the lead. I don’t know, I tried to push him and we just got separated. Obviously I want to push him out, try to help him win and then obviously keep the gap closed up to try to be in second and have a shot at it myself.

It was a tough day. I really thought our Beast Toyota Camry was really fast. We just had struggles on pit road. That’s part of racing. It’s tough. Obviously, there’s only one thing we can do at Charlotte and that’s what we’ll be focused on.”

Tony Stewart, Driver of the American Rebel Beer Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster

“Today obviously didn’t go the way we were wanting it to. We needed to capitalize on points with three races remaining after this in the Countdown to the Championship. I’m proud of my .026-second reaction time against Ida (Zetterstrom), but she got lucky on the tree with a triple zero (.000) light. We had a hole out at the start of the run, so we weren’t able to catch her. We’ll look ahead to Dallas in a couple weeks and look to gain more points back there.”

Matt Hagan, Driver of the American Rebel Beer Dodge//SRT Hellcat Funny Car

“I was looking forward to shaving the mustache, but it looks like we have to keep it now. We knew coming into this race that we were all chasing Austin (Prock). He’s won eight races this year, but no one is infallible. We had to be ready for when they messed up and they messed up today. I joked Jack (Beckman) at the top end ‘Wow, the kid is beatable.’ Mike Knudsen (crew chief), Phil Shuler (co-crew chief), Alex Conaway (car chief), and all of my guys worked so hard all day. The right lane was bumpy and they navigated those bumps really well. I felt good about the race car, but my lights weren’t great today. My first light was a .114 (seconds) and I can’t remember the last time I cut a .114 light. What was cool was that I was able to go to my crew chief and say ‘Hey, what help can you give me here?’ to try and cut better lights. My lights came around and that gave me confidence going into the next couple rounds. That’s the stuff that makes you a strong team. It was awesome to have American Rebel Beer here with us. We won our first race for them at St. Louis a couple years ago, then won the championship after that. Andy Ross (American Rebel CEO) is a great sponsor. How great is it that you have a sponsor you get to drink beer with? But, we also have other great sponsors like Dodge and Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage. I wake up some days and pinch myself that this is my job. We’re back in this hunt for the championship.”

Next Up

The next event on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series schedule is the Texas NHRA FallNationals Oct. 10-12 at the Texas Motorplex near Dallas. It is the fourth event in the Countdown to the Championship and the third-to-last race of the season.

During the final stage, Dillon was able to avoid multiple wrecks and take advantage of the restarts to gain valuable positions. With an overtime finish, Dillon earned a solid 13th-place finish.

“I’m proud of the performance of our team. We’ve been in a hole for a couple weeks, and we chopped away at it all day. It’s probably the first clean race we’ve had in three or four weeks without any of us making mistakes. I think that just proves how we can run, and hopefully that carries the momentum through the end of the year. Proud of our effort. Our car was solid and we executed in all phases. So, now we’ll move on to the ROVAL.” – Ty Dillon

CHEVROLET NCS AT KANSAS 2: Elliott Drives to Second Win of the Season; Berth into the Round of Eight

NASCAR Cup Series
Kansas Speedway
Round of 12: Race Two
Team Chevy Post-Race Report
September 28, 2025

Elliott Drives to Second Win of the Season, Berth Into the Round of Eight at Kansas

  • In a dramatic overtime finish, a masterful restart by Chase Elliott saw the Team Chevy driver go from the eighth position to make a final lap pass for the lead to earn his second win of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. The victory – his second in the series at Kansas Speedway – delivered the former champion a guaranteed ticket into the Round of Eight
  • Despite a dismal start of the day for William Byron and the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team, the combination of a late-race caution and a fast two-tire spot netted into a strong rebound that saw the team take home a ninth-place finish. Taking advantage of an already solid points cushion, the 27-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina, native will head into the Round of 12 elimination race ranked sixth in the playoff standings and 40-points above the cutline.
  • It was a pair of Hendrick Motorsports teammates that led Team Chevy to the green-flag Sunday afternoon at Kansas Speedway with Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott claiming the second-row to kick off the second race of the Round of 12. Larson, the track’s defending winner, settled into the third position as laps clicked off in the opening stage. Slowly closing in on the leaders, Larson made the pass for second on Lap 32 before the green-flag pit cycle got underway. A quiet driver behind the wheel, crew chief Cliff Daniels called Larson to pit road for their first stop of the day on Lap 36 – ultimately finding himself back in the runner-up position as the cycle was complete. As the first caution of the day flew with 25 laps to go in the stage, varying pit strategies saw much of the top-10 runners opt for a fresh set of four tires to set up for the 18-lap run to bring Stage One to a close. Lining up on the front-row, Larson went on to bring Team Chevy to the first green-white checkered flag in the second position – leading fellow playoff contenders, Elliott (third) and Ross Chastain (fifth), to valuable point-earning results in Stage One.
  • With the majority of the field hitting pit road under the stage break, Larson and Elliott led the field off pit road among the cars that made a four-tire stop – regaining their running positions to start the next 85-lap run. The race for second began to heat up among the Hendrick Motorsports teammates with Elliott making the pass for position on Lap 102. Despite losing a few positions during an intense battle among the second- through fifth-place drivers, Larson continued to find rhythm in the fifth position as the green-flag pit cycle was looming near the halfway point of the stage. Once the field cycled through, Elliott and Larson found spots back in the top-four with 35 laps to go in the stage. Going green to the end of Stage Two, the pair of teammates were among the four drivers to earn top-five points in both stages with Larson and Elliott taking the next green-white checkered flag in the third and fourth positions, respectively. With Chastain crossing the line to collect eighth-place points, the trio of Team Chevy playoff contenders were among the seven drivers to earn points in both stages.
  • With two positions gained in the race off pit road, Elliott inherited a spot on the front-row to take the green-flag for the final stage. With a masterful restart, Elliott drove his No. 9 Chevrolet to the top position to lead his first laps of the day. The long green-flag run proved to be a challenge for Elliott, falling to the fourth position before the caution came out with 57 laps to go. With another clutch stop by the No. 9 pit crew, Elliott gained yet another position on pit road to find himself in third position for the restart. Maintaining a running position in the top-five, Elliott battled through a pair of overtime finishes to make his second trip to victory lane this season.

Post-Race Driver Quotes:

Ross Chastain, No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

Finished: 11th

“We fought around 10th place all day. I thought our No. 1 Kubota Chevrolet showed signs of brilliance at the beginning and at the end of Stage One. I thought we were really strong, and then I just never had that feeling again. We just couldn’t get the balance right and the grip to go with it. We’ll regroup and get ready for the Charlotte ROVAL next weekend.”

Austin Dillon, No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet

Finished: 27th

“Not the day we wanted for our Bass Pro Shops/Winchester Deer Season XP Chevrolet. We posted a decent qualifying effort yesterday, but our Saturday speed didn’t translate to Sunday. Our Chevy was really loose at the beginning of the race and we never got the balance right, then we ended up getting some damage in a wreck in Stage 3 that destroyed the right front. We damaged our splitter and definitely didn’t have anything we could work with after that. Thanks to Richard Boswell and everyone on this RCR team for fighting through challenges and never giving up.”

Kyle Larson, No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

Finished: 6th

You looked like you were a top-five car for most of the day, and then you scraped the wall there at the end. How much did that affect your ride?

“It didn’t affect my ride, I don’t think. I actually felt pretty good after it. My No. 5 HENDRICKCARS.COM Chevrolet was good all race long. I just couldn’t go for 15 laps like the Toyota’s could, but I felt like after that, we were really good. We could kind of move around and get some lines going. It’s just really difficult to pass. But overall, our team brought a really fast Chevy. I just need to study the restarts and those first handful of laps on each restart to see what I could do better with the balance that I had. But overall, it was a great day. We’re 54-points above the cutline, happy about that heading into the Charlotte ROVAL.”

Kyle Busch, No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet

Finished: 19th

“The entire No. 8 Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Chevrolet team worked throughout the race to make adjustments to make us competitive today. We made forward progress, but it just wasn’t enough to get us where we needed to be to contend for a victory this afternoon at Kansas Speedway. This race is in the books and our attention is now on securing that first win of the season next weekend at the Charlotte ROVAL.”

Chase Elliott, No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

Finished: 1st

“Everything worked out perfect for me. Had a great push through (turns) one and two. That kind of all started with the No. 6 (Brad Keselowski). I had a big run off of two. The seas kind of parted and I just was able to keep my momentum up. That was really it. Obviously we still had pretty good tires compared to those guys, but what a crazy finish. Hope you all enjoyed that. I certainly did. Really proud of this No. 9 Kelley Blue Book Chevrolet team. Had a really solid weekend, win or no win. Really nice to qualify really well. We’ll certainly enjoy this, man. This is pretty cool. Just never take this stuff for granted because it’s hard to come by. Learned that the hard way. Always enjoy it. Always appreciate it.

Thanks to everybody at KBB. What a great partner. This is our 10th season together, which is pretty cool. Everybody at Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports, I appreciate it. Glad to be bringing one home.”

Ty Dillon, No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet

Finished: 13th

“I’m proud of the performance of our team. We’ve been in a hole for a couple weeks, and we chopped away at it all day. It’s probably the first clean race we’ve had in three or four weeks without any of us making mistakes. I think that just proves how we can run, and hopefully that carries the momentum through the end of the year. Proud of our effort. Our car was solid and we executed in all phases. So, now we’ll move on to the ROVAL.”

William Byron, No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

Finished: 9th

“We struggled there at the beginning. We missed something, but we made a bunch of changes and our No. 24 Cincinnati Chevrolet came to life there in the final stage. I’m not sure… it was really confusing, honestly. I couldn’t carry any speed, and then the changes we made seemed to fix it and I could carry speed there at the end. Even on two-tires, I was competitive on the restarts. It’s just a bummer that it was the way it was early, but the bright side is that we finished well and we found something there at the end.”

What does the rebound say about your team, that you were able to hang in there?

“It sucks that we’re having to throw hail Mary’s this time of year… we don’t want to do that. But this team is resilient. We weren’t going to give up. The fact of the matter was that we had to fix it and work on it. We just had to try a bunch of stuff and we got the car going in the right direction. I could carry speed and do the things we needed to do there at the end.”

Shane van Gisbergen, No. 88 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

Finished: 10th

“It was really cool to get a top-10 finish at Kansas Speedway. It was good to do it in a Red Bull car. We’ve had some really cool partners this year and stoked to be able to do it here at Kansas Speedway. I feel like we’re getting better and better at these tracks. It was difficult starting a lap down and having that penalty, but Chais Eliason (interim crew chief) did a great job. We had really good speed at points of the race, so I’m stoked to get a top-10. I’m over the moon with that.”

Ford Unofficial Finishing Results

8th – Brad Keselowski
12th – Todd Gilliland
15th – Chris Buescher
20th – Cole Custer
21st – Joey Logano
23rd – Noah Gragson
24th – Ryan Blaney
26th – Ryan Preece
30th – Austin Cindric
31st – Zane Smith
33rd – Josh Berry
37th – Cody Ware

BRAD KESELOWSKI, No. 6 Solomon Plumbing Ford Mustang Dark Horse – “At the end of stage two the car got a lot better. We were trapped a lap down with how the lucky dog and stuff played out and we fought through that and got to the lead lap and started picking them off. And then on the last few restarts we picked off a few more and got a decent finish out of it.” WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT THIS TEAM? “It’s good. It means the potential is there. We’ve just got to execute.” WHAT WENT WELL ON THE LAST RESTART? “We got a good last restart. There was a lot going on and it was really messy, but we made the most of it.”

JOEY LOGANO, No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Mustang Dark Horse – “It was a hard weekend. I thought we were recovering pretty well scoring stage points in both stages after starting in the back. I’m like, ‘Alright, we’re OK here. We can kind of roll through here and we’ll be alright,’ and I just got caught up in that wreck on the restart and tore something up. I don’t know, but it wouldn’t turn after that. We tried to throw a Hail Mary with two tires, but there were too many restarts and you can’t hold them off. I kept getting used up, so it sucks.” THE ROVAL IS NEXT WEEK. YOUR THOUGHTS? “We’re plus-13. It is what it is. We’ve got to go race, but it’s gonna be close.”

RYAN BLANEY, No. 12 Menards/Richmond Ford Mustang Dark Horse – “I thought we probably could have run eighth to 10th. That was kind of our max potential with this thing. I thought we got a little better through the day, which was good. We did two on the last stop and tried to get some track position and make something happen, but I sped. I was just trying to be aggressive knowing that I really didn’t have much to lose, but I’m proud of the effort with this backup car and coming from the back. I just made a little mistake.” NEXT WEEK IS NOT AS STRESSFUL SINCE YOU’RE ALREADY IN THE NEXT ROUND. “Yeah. We’ll go have a good weekend and try to win a stage and win the race. The road course strategies get pretty up in the air, so we’ll just go try maximize our day.”

AUSTIN CINDRIC, No. 2 Discount Tire Ford Mustang Dark Horse – “I definitely passed a lot of cars today, but never really in a points paying position. I’m proud of the effort from the team all weekend. I never really made it easy on myself to start from Saturday and it’s hard to sit here and say we had speed to contend. A cheap wreck there on the front straightaway and I had to run the last 50 laps without power-steering, so mentally, physically and emotionally I’m very disappointed for the result. Our goals are pretty clear for next week.” YOU HAVE TO GO AND WIN. “Yep. It’s that simple.”

ZANE SMITH, No. 38 Speedy Cash Ford Mustang Dark Horse – WHAT DID YOU JUST EXPERIENCE? “It was a wild ride, no doubt. Before I knew it, I had a decent restart going and I just get wrecked by the 42. He just drives through me and then I was sliding on the wall. I was just mad at that point from how our day was going and this just pissed me off even more because that’s what really hurt was just flipping down the track. It was violent, no doubt, but we had such a fast Speedy Cash Ford today. It’s just a bummer. Right before that caution came out we were gonna have a top 10 day, racing up inside the top 10 a majority of the day and it’s a shame that it has to come to an end out there. I want to give a shout out back to everyone at FRM for bringing another really good car, especially at a mile-and-a-half. Hopefully, five more. Hopefully we bring some more good ones.”

JOSH BERRY, No. 21 Menards/Dutch Boy Ford Mustang Dark Horse – WHAT DID YOU SEE IN THE ACCIDENT? “It looked like Zane and the 42 had got together obviously and Zane was up on his side. I just tried to go by on the bottom and the 42 spun down and clipped us in the right-rear and we wrecked, so it’s just part of being back there. It’s an overtime restart and everybody has to make up for how bad they ran all day and try to pass everybody in one corner.”

Sound Bites:

“We had had a little bit of a slow pit stop and some issues there, and going into turn one, the wheel was loose, the tire got cut, and that just sent us into the outside wall. So, super frustrating. We didn’t fire off with the speed we wanted, but we had a really good long-run car and was looking forward to making some gains in the race but, you know, we didn’t even get a chance to tune on the car. I was already happy with the long-run pace. We just needed to get a little more fire-off speed for the Evel Knievel Museum Ford Mustang. Definitely a frustrating way to get eliminated from the race.” – Cody Ware, driver of the No. 51 Evel Knievel Museum Ford Mustang Dark Horse

Next Up:

The next event on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule is the Bank of America Roval 400 on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway Roval. The sixth race in the 10-race NASCAR Playoffs starts at 3 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by USA and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

HAGAN, KALITTA, ANDERSON & HERRERA ROLL TO WINS AT NAPA AUTO PARTS NHRA MIDWEST NATIONALS

  • Kalitta extends lead with TF triumph
  • FC’s Hagan pulls within 20 points of Prock
  • Anderson gets sixth PS win of 2025
  • Herrera gets back on track with PSM victory

ST. LOUIS (Sept. 28, 2025) – Four-time Funny Car world champ Matt Hagan defeated Jack Beckman in the final round on Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway, picking up the victory for Tony Stewart Racing and staying alive in the championship mix in front of a huge crowd at the NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals.

Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won the 17th of 20 races during the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season and the third of six races in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

In the final round, Hagan went 3.979-seconds at 329.34 mph in his 12,000-horsepower American Rebel Beer Dodge//SRT Hellcat, holding off Beckman’s 4.036 to win for the second time this season and the 54th time in his career. After qualifying second and running well all weekend, Hagan defeated Alex Laughlin, Cruz Pedregon and Daniel Wilkerson to advance to the final round.

He left first with a standout .040 reaction time and pulled away at the finish line, staying second in the points race but pulling to within 20 points of leader and reigning world champion Austin Prock with three races remaining. Hagan also won for the third time in St. Louis, hoping to replicate his 2023 finish that included a St. Louis victory and a world championship.

“I told my guys when we came into this race, you know, we’re all chasing Austin. He won eight races this year, but no one is infallible,” Hagan said. “You just have to be ready when they mess up, and they messed up today. Damn, the kid is beatable. We just have to be able to take advantage of that, and Mike Knudsen, Phil Shuler, Alex Conaway, they really worked hard all day and put a good racecar beneath me.

“To have American Rebel Beer here, that was cool. We won our first race here in St. Louis a couple years ago and won the championship after that, and Andy Ross has been ecstatic ever since.”

Beckman, who was the defending event winner, reached the finals for the fifth time in 2025 and 77th time in his career after knocking off rookie Spencer Hyde, teammate Prock, who qualified No. 1, and Chad Green. He’s third in points, 65 back of Prock.

In Top Fuel, Doug Kalitta rolled forward, capping off a massive weekend in St. Louis with a victory, including a run of 3.796 at 327.98 in his 12,000-horsepower Mac Tools dragster to defeat first-time finalist Ida Zetterström in the final round. Kalitta made the most of every opportunity in St. Louis, qualifying No. 1, defeating championship contender Justin Ashley in the semifinals and watching other championship contenders fall early on Sunday.

That wasn’t the case with Kalitta, who was consistent throughout eliminations, defeating Will Smith, Steve Torrence and then Ashley, going 3.805 at 332.59 in the semifinals to keep him at bay in the title chase. That set up a matchup with Zetterström, and Kalitta quickly tracked her down to pick up his third victory of the season and the 58th of his career.

The 2023 world champion has done well at St. Louis over the years and this season was no different, as Kalitta won for the fifth time at World Wide Technology Raceway. He now leads Ashley by 86 points and Kalitta Motorsports teammate Shawn Langdon by 127 points.

“Each of the rounds today, my car was just on a rail. That’s really what it took,” Kalitta said. “Conditions were pretty slick out there, just going A to B, and and this whole Mac Tools group, I’m just real proud of them. For me, it’s just a huge relief. You’re in the Countdown races trying to do your best and they’re giving you a car that’s going down the track like that, it’s real special for sure.

“It was a big points day for the guys that we were racing. Getting by Justin, that was a huge round. My car went down the track, so that was huge. We’re definitely trying to get as many points as we can to try to stay ahead of these guys and keep doing what we’re doing.”

Zetterström reached the finals for the first time in her NHRA career, knocking off Tony Stewart, Kyle Wurtzel and reigning world champion Antron Brown earlier in the day.

Pro Stock reigning world champion Greg Anderson is alive and thriving again in the championship hunt, picking up a crucial playoff victory on Sunday in St. Louis, driving past Matt Hartford in the finals with a run of 6.531 at 209.33 in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro.

Anderson’s KB Titan Racing teammate, Dallas Glenn, won the first two playoff races, extending his points lead, but Anderson answered back on Sunday, knocking off Glenn in the second round en route to his sixth victory this season and the 112th overall for the six-time world champion.

This one was necessary, as Anderson pounced on the opportunity, also defeating Mason McGaha and rookie Matt Latino to reach the final round. Anderson posted a strong .021 reaction time, cruising to the victory and keeping Glenn within striking distance. He now trails Glenn by just 25 points heading into the final stretch run.

“Today was crazy. I’m whipped,” Anderson said. “After yesterday, I probably didn’t come in with the most confidence but what a recovery my guys made with my racecar. It was just not happy in qualifying and that’s not normal for us. They figured it out and I made four very high-quality runs today and got the light I needed to get each time.

“Timing is everything, and it just all comes down to what you do when in drag racing. A lot of big rounds – second round with Dallas Glenn should have never happened, but you have to play the cards you’re dealt. It was either going to be a horrible day for me or a horrible day for Dallas, but still a great day for KB Titan. I’m proud of this race team. It’s an honor to work for them, drive for them, manage this team, and be part of it.”

Hartford reached the championship round for the third time in 2025 and the 20th time in his career after defeating Cristian Cuadra, Erica Enders and Troy Coughlin Jr., moving to third in points.

After a shocking first two races in the Countdown to the Championship, back-to-back Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion Gagie Herrera got back on track in a major way, knocking off teammate Brayden Davis in the final round when Davis went red by just .001. Herrera went 6.791 at 199.61 on his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Suzuki, picking up his sixth victory this season and the 27th in his career.

Herrera fell in the second round at the playoff opener in Reading and lost in the opening round last weekend in Charlotte, a shocking turn of events for the rider who has dominated the class the past two-plus seasons. But on his birthday, Herrera finished off a standout weekend that saw him qualify No. 1 and then knock off Jianna Evaristo and Angie Smith to reach the final round.

Davis had an unfortunate red light to hand the victory to Herrera, who jumped back to second in points. With three races left, Herrera trails teammate and points leader Richard Gadson by just 29 points, knowing this was a must-win weekend if he wanted to pick up a third straight championship.

“This means a lot. Moving from fourth to second in points, that’s awesome, but I’m still the hunter or a chaser. I have to chase my teammate,” Herrera said. “Brayden did me a little favor there in the semis and then Matt [Smith] did me a big favor. That’s like the best birthday present ever, him going out early. That makes it interesting.

“That’s the best part for me and Richard and everyone in the top half of the points; it just makes it a lot more fun. Getting three (wins) in a row here, it means a lot to me. I wish all the Countdown races were here, honestly. But it was an awesome day, and to get to win on your birthday, there’s just nothing like it.”

Davis reached the final round for the second time in his standout rookie season, defeating Chris Bostick, Chase Van Sant and Gadson along the way.

TROY COUGHLIN JR. TAKES JEGS.COM TO SEMIFINALS AT NHRA MIDWEST NATIONALS

MADISON, Ill. (Sept. 28, 2025) – Troy Coughlin Jr. and the JEGS.com team rallied to their first semifinal appearance of the season Sunday at the NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Troy Jr. dominated on the starting line all day with his total reaction times tallying to .023-seconds. Starting the day from the No. 16 qualifying position off a 6.568-second pass at 209.07 mph on Friday, Troy Jr. had a first-round match up against first-time No. 1 qualifier Eric Latino. With a .001-second reaction time and 6.581-second pass at 208.88 mph, Troy Jr. got the win on a holeshot over Latino’s 6.536 at 209.59 with a .058 reaction time.

In the quarterfinals, Troy Jr. faced off with teammate Fernando Cuadra Jr. and the Corral Tequila / Cuadra team. It was a clean side-by-side drag race with the JEGS.com machine getting to the finish line in 6.626-seconds at 208.42 mph to take the win over Fernando Jr.’s 6.634 at 207.66. Troy Jr. was again impressive on the starting line with a .009 reaction time.

Facing Matt Hartford in the semifinals, the 14th of Troy Jr.’s career, the JEGS.com car had difficulty off the starting line pulling left and squaring the tires to eventually coast across the finish line in 14.396-seconds at 57.84 mph. Troy Jr. was still stout on the starting line with a .003 reaction time. Hartford had a clean pass at 6.562 and 209.85.

“The boys in Yellow & Black worked hard all weekend and fought through adversity with our car,” Troy Jr. said. “We learned a lot about our setup and car today and I’m proud as heck to get to race with these men and women at Elite Motorsports. On to Dallas and looking forward to the JEGS Friday night session. You won’t want to miss Dallas.”

CORVETTE RACING AT FUJI: What a Win for TF Sport, Corvette!

No. 81 Z06 GT3.R takes dramatic class victory on final lap

OYAMA, Japan (September 28, 2025) – TF Sport’s No. 81 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R earned a dramatic, late-race victory Sunday in the Six Hours of Fuji for the team’s second LMGT3 triumph of the FIA World Endurance Championship season.

Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy earned their first win as a trio and their third podium finish of the season. The three teammates drove their way back from an early-race penalty and took advantage of last-lap trouble for the No. 21 Ferrari.

Eastwood took the checkered flag second in LMGT3 but the Ferrari was assessed a five-second, post-race penalty of its own on the final lap. Both cars had to stop for a splash of fuel inside the final six minutes but the TF Sport Corvette came in a lap later – critical as Eastwood went from eight seconds behind to well within the five-second margin he needed for victory.

TF Sport’s No. 33 Corvette won the opening race of the season in Qatar, and the team also won with one of its Corvettes in the European Le Mans Series earlier this year… coincidentally one driven by Eastwood and Andrade. It also was the second win at Fuji this year for the Z06 GT3.R as Johor Motorsports Racing took a victory earlier this year in GT World Challenge Asia.

Unofficially, the No. 81 Corvette team moved into third place in the LMGT3 Drivers and Teams championships – 24 points out of first place with 39 total points available in the eight-hour season finale in Bahrain.

No. 33 TF Sport Corvette teammates Daniel Juncadella, Jonny Edgar and Ben Keating are fourth in points with their eighth-place finish Sunday for their third points-paying finish in four races.

Multiple safety car periods scrambled the race at various points, which presented a number of different strategies throughout the LMGT3 field. After Van Rompuy and Keating drove opening stints in their Corvettes on the same starting tires, TF Sport decided to split its strategy with the No. 33 running four spots better at the halfway point.

Eastwood was one of the first Pro-rated drivers into the race just ahead of the four-hour mark with the goal making it to the end with a final splash. Meanwhile Juncadella got in the No. 33 with 1:45 left from second place but with one stop to the end.

The No. 81 strategy played out as the winning one at the end. Eastwood stopped from the lead with 63 minutes to go and again with four minutes remaining to set the stage for the late-race dramatics.

TF Sport and the Corvette Z06 GT3.R will close the FIA WEC season at the Eight Hours of Bahrain on Saturday, November 8.

TF SPORT POST-EVENT QUOTES

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: (Were you made aware of the scenario to the 21?) “No, not till the very last lap. To be honest, I felt like I was getting a bit annoying on the radio because I was asking all the time what was going on. For a long time I didn’t have a clue. Half the grid was on a split strategy and we were at one point seventh on that alternate strategy. We sort of chipped away closer to the front. We knew that we were able to go the longest on fuel but it was going to be nip-and-tuck. It kind of depended so much on how the battles were behind. There was quite a small gap once we came out of the pits but we had really good pace at the end of the stint. It was a perfect pit stop and took the least amount of fuel… I think we ended with 8 or 10 mega-joules in the car, bearing in mind that it’s only about a half-second on the actual fill. So it was perfect by the team. I came around on the second-to-last lap and they mentioned the gap was 7.2 seconds but there was a five-second time penalty. So I figured I may as well keep pushing here and see how we get on. We could see the Ferrari ahead didn’t quite have enough fuel. I could see it coming closer and closer in the last lap.

“To take the win was unbelievable. Right place, right time but also you have to execute and everything went right in the last couple of hours. We’ve been pretty unlucky the last couple of years to say the least, so it’s great to get my first win with these guys (Andrade and Van Rompuy) in WEC and my first win in the championship since moving to Corvette. I’m super pleased.”

RUI ANDRADE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “The car felt very strong in my stint. In FP3 and qualifying, we were very happy with the car balance. We knew that qualifying for sure isn’t our strong spot but we knew the Corvette would be quite strong for the race. It was quite tricky as all the LMGT3 cars were quite close together. It was really hard to know where we were going to be, and even in the race it was hard to know where we would end up because different strategies by different teams were being played out. But we kept our heads down and kept pushing. The safety cars definitely threw a lot into the race because we weren’t sure what the best strategy would be. Even until the end we weren’t sure if it would work out. But the team did an amazing job. My teammates were faultless all race long. Thankfully we had the right strategy and a little bit of luck at the end. I’m very happy to get our first win together in the WEC. Since last year we’ve been trying and we’ve been close a few times. It’s a very special moment for all of us.”

TOM VAN ROMPUY, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It started a bit on the back foot because I caused a penalty for releasing early from a FCY. But luckily that was negated by lots of VSCs and safety cars. From that point we knew we had a strong racecar on race pace. So we kept on giving our best. Also the team, I have to thank today for all their effort for doing really great pit stops and strategy. At some point it was a gamble but today it paid out. It’s my first win in WEC so I’m super proud to achieve this with these guys at TF Sport. I’m super happy.”

DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It was a positive race until the last two hours where seven or eight cars took a gamble to stop behind the safety car. It worked for them but didn’t work for us. We ended up P8 when we should have been in the top-three. It’s a shame. On the other hand we had a good weekend where we improved consistently. We’re still missing pace overall and some balance in the car. It’s probably not the best weekend for that but we will get there. The championship now is very difficult for Bahrain but we will be rid of all our success weight. Hopefully we can have a clean weekend there so let’s see.”

JONNY EDGAR, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “That was a pretty good stint. I think our race pace definitely was better than what we expected after practice. I’m pretty happy with that. Some cars had a little bit more pace but I think we did a good job on strategy. I managed to overtake a few cars on track, and on strategy we managed to jump a few others, which was good to get in clean air and push a bit. So the team did a good job on the stop and strategy to get a few places.”

BEN KEATING, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It was a lot of fun in my stint. There was a lot going on out there. We had a lot of different cars that were on completely different strategies. I think the second safety car helped everybody else and did not help us. We were on a fuel mileage strategy and felt we were going to have one less stop than everyone else. I had a good start and a good couple of stints. We didn’t take tires for my second stint and some of the other competitors did so that was a big difference late.”
