7 Things to Never Do After a Car Accident

With so much going on after a car accident, it’s easy to make mistakes without realizing it. The US has around 5.93 million car accidents yearly, so knowing what to do is vital. Specific actions taken right after an accident could negatively impact your ability to recoup damages, place liability accurately, and protect your future interests. Steve Jensen, a Salt Lake City car accident lawyer, suggests avoiding making these seven key mistakes following an automotive crash, and you’ll be in a much better position regarding insurance claims and legal processes down the road.

Leave the Scene of the Car Accident

Leaving the scene of an accident is illegal in most places, yet 14.5% of accidents in 2022 involved a driver who didn’t stick around. Even if you think the accident was minor, you should stop your car and wait for the police to arrive. Fleeing the scene can lead to criminal charges and a suspended license. Stay at the scene and exchange information with the other driver. The only reason to drive away is if your vehicle is unsafe to remain in or if you require immediate medical attention.

Admit Fault or Guilt

Even if you think the accident was your fault, which might be the case if you’re one of the 54% of people who tested positive for drugs or alcohol after a serious accident, do not admit fault or guilt to the other driver. Anything you say or do can be used against you later. Exchange insurance and contact information. Let the police and insurance agents investigate the accident details. Admitting any fault could make you liable for damages and weaken your insurance claim.

Neglect to Call the Police

Regardless of how minor it may seem, always call the police after an accident. A police report is crucial for insurance claims and establishing fault later on. Be sure to ask the other driver who’s involved in the accident to wait for the police to arrive. If not, still file a report yourself afterwards. Get the police badge numbers and their contact information from all responding officers.

Forget to Document the Car Accident Scene

Take some photos of the accident scene and surroundings from multiple angles before moving the cars. Get the contact details from any witnesses who saw or arrived at the accident. Their accounts could help prove your innocence later.

Delay Medical Treatment

Always have a medical check if you have been in an accident. Some injuries, like whiplash (3 million injuries per year) or internal bleeding, may not be evident at first. Seek evaluation at the emergency room and follow up with your primary care physician. Request copies of all medical records to share with your car accident lawyer.

Discuss the Car Crash on Social Media

Avoid posting about the accident on social media, such as Facebook or X, as what you say could be used against you if the other driver pursues legal action. Even sympathizing or speculating about what happened could weaken your case. Stick to only the facts and save the details for your insurance claim. Also, ask passengers not to share accident information publicly.

Forget to Contact Your Car Accident Lawyer

Call your car accident lawyer immediately after an accident, even if it looks minor. They can guide you through the following steps regarding police reports, claims processes, and dealing with insurance companies.

Act cautiously after a car accident, and the outcome may not be as bad as you think.

  • Combined, Hendrick Motorsports drivers have led 1,706 laps so far this season, most of all organizations by 989 circuits and the team’s most since 1996. That number accounts for 46% of laps run through 13 races this year. A Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet has led the most laps in five of the last six NASCAR Cup Series races.
  • The organization enters Sunday’s race at Nashville Superspeedway leading all teams in poles (five), top fives (19), top 10s (31), laps led and stage wins (14), the most stage wins ever through a season’s first 13 events.

QUOTABLE /

Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet, on Nashville Superspeedway: “We’ve been good at Nashville, but we haven’t been great, which you need to be to win there. I know I won in 2021, but since then I think we have some more to work on. Hopefully we can qualify well and build off of that.”

Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet, on what makes Nashville Superspeedway a popular venue: “The town has just gotten so popular. I think that there’s just a lot of energy there right now. Nashville is trendy and has been trendy for a period of time. A lot of people are moving to Nashville. The music scene has become as big as it’s ever been, I would argue, in the country music world. So, you have the opportunity to have some big names out at the track. It seems like we all enjoy it. So, I think all those things are good.”

William Byron, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet, on Nashville Superspeedway: “Nashville has been kind of OK for us. I feel like the first year, first couple of years we went there, we were super fast. But then last year we weren’t so good, so just got to keep working on that. It seems like it has some mile-and-a-half characteristics, like the guys who are fast at mile-and-a-halves seem to be pretty strong at Nashville, even though it’s a shorter track. So we’ll see. I think we could run well there. Definitely, the expectation is obviously to go there and try to run top five and try to compete for a win. So, yeah, I think it’s just a matter of looking at what we did last year and kind of where we need to be better.”

Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet, on Nashville Superspeedway: “Nashville is a really tough place. The concrete surface makes it feel totally different from most of the tracks we go to. It’s slick, it changes a lot during the race, and it doesn’t give you much forgiveness. But it’s a cool atmosphere with the fans and the city close by. We haven’t had the results we want there yet, but we’re bringing a fast Ally Chevy and hoping to turn that around this weekend.”

Berry, Freightliner Team Have High Hopes For Nashville

Josh Berry and the No. 21 Freightliner team are headed to Nashville Superspeedway, the 1.33-mile concrete oval that is about a 30-mile drive from Berry’s hometown of Hendersonville, Tenn., for Sunday evening’s Cracker Barrel 400.

Berry, who qualified on the outside pole last year in his only Cup start at Nashville, said he’s looking forward to returning to the track and continuing the run he and the Freightliner team have had on intermediate-length ovals this season. That includes a win on the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.

“I feel good about where we’ve been on the intermediates,” Berry said. “We’ve shown a lot of speed and been really competitive. The goal is to keep building on that, especially in qualifying and continuing to learn with the playoffs in mind. Nashville and Michigan are two tracks I’m looking forward to. I felt like we ran well there last year, so I see them as great opportunities to put together some solid results and keep improving.”

Practice for the Cracker Barrel 400 is set for Saturday at 3:35 p.m. Central Time (4:35 Eastern) to be followed by qualifying at 4:45 (5:45 Eastern). Sunday’s 399-mile race is expected to get the green flag just after 6 p.m. (7 p.m. Eastern), with Stage breaks planned for Laps 90 and 185. Amazon Prime will carry the TV coverage all weekend.

NASCAR heads to Nashville Superspeedway for the fifth consecutive year with an action-packed weekend as all three national series compete. This weekend’s race at Nashville will be the 2,800th Cup Series race.

It will also be the final Cup Series race before the NASCAR In-Season Challenge. The challenge will consist of the top 32 drivers competing in five races, beginning on June 28 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It will conclude on July 20 with the Indianapolis 400.

Cup Series at Nashville Notes

Kyle Larson led 264 laps of the 300 scheduled laps (88.0%) in 2021 after starting the race in fifth place. He is the only driver to have finished in the top 10 in all four races at Nashville, with an average finish of 4.5.

This weekend’s race at Nashville will be the 2,800th Cup Series race. It will also be significant for Denny Hamlin, who will reach another milestone in his career as he makes his 700th Cup Series start at Nashville.

Xfinity Series at Nashville Notes

JR Motorsports is seven wins away from reaching 100. There are only three teams that have won at least 100 Xfinity Series races: Joe Gibbs Racing (217), RFK Racing (138), and Richard Childress Racing (100).

In the 13 Xfinity Series races this season, there have been 191 lead changes, the third-most all-time. There have been 106 different leaders, the second-most of all time.

2025 is the first season since 2017 without a first-time winner in the first 13 races.

Craftsman Truck Series at Nashville Notes

In 2024, Christian Eckes led all 150 laps at Nashville after starting from the third position.

In five of the 11 races this season, there has been a pass for the win in the last five laps.

There have been 149 lead changes and 84 different leaders through the first 11 races this season, the series-most.

How to Transport Your Race Car or Performance Vehicle: A Complete Guide for Motorsports Enthusiasts

Whether you’re heading to your next race weekend, relocating your prized muscle car, or moving a classic to a car show across the country, transporting high-performance vehicles requires specialized knowledge and care. Unlike everyday commuter cars, race cars and performance vehicles demand extra attention during transport to preserve their modifications, protect custom work, and ensure they arrive race-ready.

Understanding the Unique Challenges of Performance Vehicle Transport

Performance vehicles present distinct challenges that standard auto transport companies may not fully appreciate. Race cars often sit lower to the ground, have modified suspension systems, and feature aerodynamic components that can be damaged during standard loading procedures. Custom paint jobs, expensive modifications, and irreplaceable vintage parts make these vehicles irreplaceable investments that demand premium protection.

Many performance enthusiasts have learned this lesson the hard way—arriving at the track to find damage that could have been prevented with proper transport planning. The key is understanding what makes your vehicle special and communicating those needs clearly to your transport provider.

Preparing Your Performance Vehicle for Transport: Pre-Transport Inspection and Documentation

Before any transport, conduct a thorough inspection of your vehicle. Document every detail with high-resolution photos from multiple angles, paying special attention to:

  • Custom body panels and aerodynamic components
  • Aftermarket wheels and suspension modifications
  • Paint condition, especially custom or rare finishes
  • Interior modifications and racing equipment
  • Engine bay modifications and custom components

Create a detailed inventory of any removable performance parts. Some owners prefer to remove expensive wheels, wings, or other bolt-on modifications for separate transport to reduce risk.

Mechanical Considerations

Ensure your vehicle is mechanically sound for transport. Check that:

  • The battery is charged and properly secured
  • All fluids are at appropriate levels (but not overfilled)
  • Tire pressure is correct for the vehicle’s weight
  • Any nitrous systems are properly purged and secured
  • Roll cages or safety equipment don’t interfere with loading

If your race car has been modified extensively, provide the transport company with specific loading instructions. Extremely low vehicles may require special ramps or equipment that not all carriers possess.

Choosing the Right Transport Method: Open vs. Enclosed Transport for Performance Vehicles

While open transport works for many vehicles, performance cars typically benefit from enclosed transport. The additional cost is usually justified by:

Weather Protection: Custom paint, vinyl wraps, and exposed carbon fiber components need protection from rain, hail, and UV exposure during multi-day transport.

Security: High-value modifications and recognizable race cars attract unwanted attention. Enclosed trailers keep your vehicle out of sight during stops and overnight stays.

Damage Prevention: Road debris poses a greater risk to low-sitting performance vehicles and expensive body modifications than to standard cars.

Specialized Performance Vehicle Carriers

Some transport companies specialize in high-end and performance vehicles. These carriers typically offer:

  • Hydraulic lift gates for extremely low vehicles
  • Climate-controlled trailers for temperature-sensitive vehicles
  • Extra padding and securing systems for modified vehicles
  • Experience with race car transport logistics
  • Higher insurance coverage limits for valuable vehicles

Race Weekend Logistics: Planning for Event Transport

Race weekend transport requires different planning than standard vehicle moving. Consider these factors:

Timing: Book transport well in advance for popular racing events. Many tracks see high demand during race weekends, and available carriers fill up quickly.

Delivery Location: Confirm whether delivery can be made directly to the track or if you’ll need to arrange pickup from a nearby location. Some tracks have restrictions on commercial vehicle access.

Return Transport: Many racers need return transport after the event. Booking round-trip service often provides better rates and guaranteed availability for the return journey.

Multi-Vehicle Transport

If you’re transporting multiple race cars or support vehicles, specialized carriers can handle multiple vehicles on one trailer. This approach often reduces per-vehicle costs while keeping your entire racing operation together during transport.

Insurance and Protection Strategies: Understanding Coverage Limits

Standard auto transport insurance may not adequately cover high-value performance vehicles. Review the carrier’s insurance policy carefully and consider:

  • Whether modifications are covered at full replacement value
  • If custom paint or wrap work is included in coverage
  • What documentation is required for high-value claims
  • Whether racing equipment is covered separately

Additional Protection Options

For extremely valuable vehicles, consider supplemental insurance coverage. Some specialty insurers offer transport-specific policies that cover the full agreed value of modified vehicles, including custom work and aftermarket parts.

Document everything before transport and inspect thoroughly upon delivery. Any damage should be noted immediately on the delivery receipt and reported to both the transport company and your insurance provider.

Working with Professional Auto Shippers

When transporting performance vehicles, working with experienced auto shippers makes all the difference. Professional transporters understand the unique requirements of modified vehicles and can provide the specialized equipment and care your investment deserves.

Look for transport companies that:

  • Have experience with performance and racing vehicles
  • Carry appropriate insurance coverage for high-value vehicles
  • Use enclosed trailers with proper tie-down systems
  • Employ drivers familiar with low-clearance vehicle handling
  • Provide transparent pricing without hidden fees

Cost Considerations and Budgeting: Factors Affecting Transport Pricing

Performance vehicle transport typically costs more than standard auto transport due to:

  • Enclosed Transport Premium: Enclosed trailers cost 40-60% more than open transport
  • Specialized Equipment: Low-clearance vehicles may require special ramps or hydraulic systems
  • Insurance Coverage: Higher-value vehicles increase insurance costs
  • Route Considerations: Some performance vehicles require specific routes to avoid low bridges or steep grades

Getting Accurate Quotes

When requesting quotes, provide detailed information about your vehicle:

  • Exact dimensions including any modifications that affect height, width, or length
  • Vehicle weight if significantly modified
  • Ground clearance measurements
  • Any special loading requirements
  • Pick-up and delivery location accessibility

This information helps transporters provide accurate quotes and avoid surprise charges.

Seasonal Considerations for Performance Vehicle Transport: Racing Season Planning

Most racing seasons follow predictable patterns, creating high-demand periods for transport services:

  • Spring: Season preparation creates high demand as racers move cars from winter storage
  • Summer: Peak racing season with constant movement between tracks
  • Fall: End-of-season transport back to storage or winter preparation facilities
  • Winter: Lowest demand period, often with better rates for non-urgent transport

Planning your transport during off-peak periods can result in significant savings, though this isn’t always possible for race-critical timing.

Weather affects transport scheduling and routing, especially for open trailers. During severe weather seasons:

  • Allow extra time for weather-related delays
  • Consider enclosed transport even for vehicles that might normally use open carriers
  • Discuss weather contingency plans with your transport provider
  • Monitor weather forecasts and communicate with your carrier about potential issues

Building Long-Term Transport Relationships: Benefits of Consistent Partnerships

Serious motorsports participants often benefit from developing relationships with reliable transport providers. Benefits include:

  • Priority Scheduling: Regular customers often receive preferential booking during high-demand periods
  • Better Rates: Volume discounts and loyalty pricing can reduce long-term transport costs
  • Familiarity: Drivers who know your specific vehicle and requirements provide better service
  • Flexibility: Established relationships often include more flexible scheduling and payment terms

Technology and Tracking: Modern Transport Monitoring

Today’s professional transport companies offer real-time tracking and communication:

  • GPS Tracking: Monitor your vehicle’s location throughout transport
  • Photo Updates: Receive photos during pickup, transit, and delivery
  • Communication Apps: Direct communication with drivers and dispatch
  • Delivery Notifications: Automated updates about delivery timing

These tools provide peace of mind, especially for valuable performance vehicles traveling long distances.

Special Situations and Solutions: Non-Running Vehicles

Race cars sometimes need transport when they’re not operational. This requires:

  • Winch-Equipped Carriers: For vehicles that can’t be driven onto trailers
  • Special Pricing: Non-running vehicles typically cost more to transport
  • Loading Assistance: May require additional equipment or personnel
  • Advance Notice: Carriers need to know about non-running status when booking

Oversized or Modified Vehicles

Extensively modified race cars may exceed standard trailer dimensions:

  • Wide-Body Modifications: May require special permits for transport
  • Height Restrictions: Tall wings or roll cages might limit route options
  • Length Considerations: Extended vehicles may need longer trailers
  • Weight Distribution: Heavy modifications affect loading and securing procedures

Making the Right Choice for Your Vehicle

Transporting performance vehicles successfully requires more than just finding the lowest price. Focus on carriers with demonstrated experience in high-value vehicle transport, proper insurance coverage, and equipment suited to your vehicle’s specific needs.

Professional vehicle transport services understand that performance vehicles represent significant investments of time, money, and passion. They provide the specialized care and attention these vehicles deserve, ensuring they arrive in the same condition they left—ready for whatever challenge awaits on the track.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior heading to local events or a serious competitor traveling the national circuit, proper transport planning protects your investment and ensures you can focus on what matters most: the race ahead.

autoTEXT: Fast, Reliable Texting for Dealerships

In the fast-paced world of automotive dealerships, communication is everything. Customers expect quick responses, clear updates, and minimal time spent waiting around. The days of playing phone tag are over — texting is now the go-to method of communication. That’s where autoTEXT comes in.

Why Texting Matters More Than Ever

We’ve all been there. You’re waiting on a call from a service advisor to tell you your vehicle is ready — only for that call to come in while you’re in a meeting or stuck in traffic. You miss it, and now you’re left in the dark until you call back.

From a dealership’s perspective, that missed call could mean delayed pick-ups, backed-up service lanes, and frustrated customers.

Texting eliminates this gap. It’s fast, it’s convenient, and most importantly — it’s what customers want.

Meet autoTEXT: Dealership Texting Made Easy

autoTEXT is a fast, reliable texting platform designed specifically for dealerships. Developed by VenueVision, it integrates seamlessly with your existing systems and gives your team the power to reach customers instantly, directly from their desktops.

We like to think of it as the conversation starter that never leaves your customer hanging. It’s a Dealership Texting Software solution built to streamline workflows and enhance customer communication at every step.

Real Conversations, Real Results

When we first introduced autoTEXT at a partner dealership in Ontario, the results were immediate. Service advisors were able to update customers on repair statuses, approvals, and appointment reminders — all without picking up the phone. One advisor even said, “It’s like someone finally gave me a pause button on my day. I can message a dozen customers at once and still stay on top of my work.”

Not only did customer satisfaction improve, but missed calls dropped dramatically, and turnaround times in the service lane tightened up.

Features That Keep You Connected

Here’s what makes autoTEXT such a game-changer:

Two-Way Texting

You’re not just blasting out messages. Customers can reply and engage in real-time conversations with your staff. It’s personal, responsive, and efficient.

Integrated With Your DMS

autoTEXT works directly within your dealership’s DMS (Dealer Management System), so there’s no jumping between platforms. Service advisors can text right from the repair order screen.

Team-Based Inbox

All incoming and outgoing messages are centralized, so if a customer texts back and their advisor is tied up, anyone on the team can jump in and assist. No lost messages, no lost time.

Opt-In and Compliance Ready

autoTEXT includes built-in opt-in and opt-out features, keeping your dealership compliant with texting regulations while giving customers full control over how they communicate.

A Better Experience for Everyone

From the customer’s point of view, getting a quick text update about their vehicle feels natural. Whether it’s a photo of a needed repair or a simple “Your car’s ready for pick-up,” the communication is clear and respectful of their time.

For staff, it means fewer voicemails to return, more productive workflows, and the ability to handle multiple customers without being stuck on the phone all day.

As one service manager shared, “I didn’t realize how much we were relying on outdated communication until autoTEXT replaced it. Now our team runs smoother, and customers love how fast we are.”

It’s Not Just for Service Departments

While the service lane is a major beneficiary, autoTEXT is just as valuable for sales teams. From appointment confirmations to lead follow-ups, it gives your dealership the ability to strike while the iron is hot — and customers are most engaged.

A sales rep told us they closed a deal just because they were able to follow up instantly after a test drive with a simple, “Great seeing you today — let me know if you have any questions!”

Dealership Texting Software Built for Results

The truth is, not all texting tools are created equal. What sets autoTEXT apart is its dealership-specific design, team-based interface, and seamless integration with your workflow. It’s not a generic texting platform repurposed for automotive — it’s purpose-built to improve communication in sales and service environments.

And if your dealership is using autoTEXT in combination with other VenueVision tools — like digital signage or shuttle tracking — you’ll be creating a truly connected, modern customer experience.

Ready to Text Smarter?

If your dealership is still relying on calls and voicemails, it’s time to shift gears. autoTEXT makes fast, reliable communication possible — and easy. Your customers deserve it. Your staff will thank you for it.

Visit VenueVision.com to learn how we help dealerships like yours improve the customer experience across the board — from messaging to payments to shuttle management.
