Post-Race Driver Quotes:

William Byron, No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet:

Finished: 2nd

“I felt like our No. 24 Axalta Chevy was pretty fast. We were just kind of struggling with handling a little bit. I felt like I could be more comfortable than I was. We just needed to get the back of the car a little bit more stable. But overall, I was able to work with Ty (Dillon) really well. Ross (Chastain) and I were kind of connected for awhile, and then we just kind of got spread apart, disconnected and that’s what ultimately got the bottom line back. Wish we could have been closer at the end, but still a good result.”

Ty Dillon, No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet:

Finished: 3rd

“The raw speed of our Grizzly Nicotine Pouches Chevy has been quite obvious all weekend already, so that’s a great thing and a great start for our team. Our goal is to let everyone know we are here early in the season and we’re happy about that finish. I think if we had been running in the back, we probably would have made a couple different moves to be a little bit smoother at the end. This is the first time working with the team here at Kaulig Racing and I’m really proud of what we accomplished tonight. We’ll go back, get in the notebook and get a little bit better. You can’t ask for a better start to the season. Our team is determined and focused, and in the second race of the year to get a top three is nice. We’ll go to the 500 and have some fun. The biggest thing on Sunday is to make it to the end and get our year started on the right track.”

Ross Chastain, No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet:

Finished: 4th

“The No. 1 Busch Light Chevy was really good in the draft, but we had some throttle issues with it sticking under caution. We pitted early before the race started trying to see what was wrong. It fixed itself, and then it came back. Then it fixed itself, and then it came back. The car drafted great; handled better than most I saw around me and handle the bumps better. It’s definitely a strong start there knowing this is probably the worst it’s going to drive from qualifying to now. We will get the throttle fixed, and I can push and get pushed with the best of them.”

Justin Allgaier, No. 40 JR Motorsports Chevrolet

Finished: 9th; Locks into the DAYTONA 500

“This just means so much to Dale (Earnhardt Jr.), Kelley (Earnhardt Miller) and L.W. (Miller) and everyone at JR Motorsports. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to come make this happen, and it seems like no matter what we’ve done, it hasn’t went the way we wanted it to go. We said anything worth having is worth working for and it’s going to be hard. We’ve proven it time and time again, whether it be last fall at Phoenix (Raceway) or here this weekend. Greg (Ives, crew chief) was pretty hard himself last night after qualifying, but this No. 40 Traveller Whiskey Chevy team rallied. This whole group is special. I can’t think everyone at Traveller Whiskey enough for coming onboard; everyone at Chevrolet, the Hendrick Engine Shop and all of our partners.

Dale told me before the race – if it’s meant to be, it will happen, and it did. Just really proud. This might seem like not that big of a deal to a lot of people, but when I think about our small team at JR Motorsports –- as big as it is, it really is a small family team. To see this happen tonight, it takes a lot of weight off my shoulders.”

Justin Haley, No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

Finished: 21st

What exactly did you see out there?

“I’ve never ridden a horse before, but I feel like I got bucked off one. I hit pretty hard. But yeah, I just tried to lift when Chandler (Smith) came across my nose there. He (Chandler) said in the infield care center that none of his digital mirrors worked and his spotter cleared him. But yeah, I tried to lift. It’s unfortunate. We’re going to have to go to Chili’s and have a margarita or two; sleep this one off and get ready for the DAYTONA 500.”

Helio Castroneves, No. 91 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

Finished: 22nd

You avoided the ‘big wreck’, but what happened?

“In one of the wrecks, I got hit and ended up hitting the wall in turn two pretty hard and broke a toe link. I should have actually just brought it in slower. We went really fast trying to fix the car, and then obviously when I hit the banking, the car just snapped to the right. It’s disappointing because the No. 91 Wendy’s Chevy was really good. The boys on the PROJECT91 team did an amazing job. They have a little bit of work to do, unfortunately. It wasn’t the night that we wanted, but we’ll take the provisional. So many people have been talking about it, but we will take it and we will learn more for the race.”

Before that, you sounded happy. It sounded like things we were going well. What did you learn?

“There are so many little things that people don’t realize behind the TV and even the grandstands. There’s so much going on. It’s actually incredible. The way the package is, it’s impressive. There was a lot to learn.. no question about it. There was a lot of movement in the car; a lot of air flow and a lot of brake-checking that you need to be aware of. But as long as you hold steady, it’s pretty good. I wish we could have kept it going.”

TOYOTA QUOTES

BUBBA WALLACE, No. 23 McDonald’s Toyota Camry XSE, 23XI Racing

Finishing Position: 1st

Can you describe your emotions right now?

“What a good night. I didn’t know how it was going to play out, and we got the lead there and my McDonald’s Camry just switched like a light switch to a totally different balance from being in the pack. It was a little bit edgy out front, but luckily, I’ve got some years under my belt that people still trust me. I was lucky to have Tyler (Reddick) behind me – he did a great job pushing me. I appreciate that massive 23XI effort to get us this win. But all-in-all – we’ve got McDonald’s back in victory lane at the Duel. It sets us up really good for Sunday. We will enjoy this little moment right now. I told myself I would do more of – enjoy the little stuff. But hats off to these guys here. Hats off to Charles (Denike, crew chief) – first time at Daytona in a Cup car, and we got him a win. I forgot where to go. I forgot where to stop. The best thing is – I cried when I walked out with Becks (Wallace’s son) on pit road for driver intros, and it is really special to have him here. It is awesome.”

TYLER REDDICK, No. 45 Nasty Beast Toyota Camry XSE, 23XI Racing

Finishing Position: 5th

What did you take away for Sunday?

“Yeah, early on, I felt like our Nasty Beast Camry was going for a wild ride – thankfully, I was able to hang on to it. Knocked some of the rust off at Bowman Gray. I didn’t know what was going to happen there, but I feel like it worked okay with all of the cars coming back to pit road. Bubba (Wallace) and I were able to get hooked pretty up early on – and worked together a lot there. Gave him a couple of too big of shots at times, but it is a great learning tool to get ready for the 500. All-in-all, the main objective was to get one of us into victory lane, which we accomplished. I just wished we could’ve held on to second – we just kind of got swallowed up there on the last lap.”

CHASE BRISCOE, No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry XSE, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 19th

It was your first time in the draft with the Camry. What do you feel like you learned heading into Sunday?

“Definitely learned a lot. I would have loved to have more laps. It was hard. I didn’t want to put myself in bad situations and lose the front row. Still ended up getting damage from debris – but I learned a lot. I thought my Bass Pro Shops Camry was honestly a little better in the single car run than it was in the pack. It’s hard because nobody is really pushing like they would at the end of the race either. Definitely some stuff that I can work on for sure – I think some things we can do to make our car better, so we will see how it goes Sunday.”

Horizon Hobby Returns to Front Row Motorsports in Multi-year, Multi-race Partnership

Horizon Hobby to Partner with Smith at Kansas Speedway and Dover Motor Speedway in 2025

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (February 13, 2024) – Horizon Hobby, a global leader in RC products, will return to Front Row Motorsports (FRM) in a multi-year, multi-race partnership that will span across the 2025 and 2026 NASCAR Cup Series seasons with Zane Smith and the No. 38 Ford Mustang Dark Horse team. Smith is no stranger to Horizon Hobby and its brands, having partnered with the company through its ARRMA brand in his 2022 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) championship season and in 2023.

The No. 38 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will carry the Horizon Hobby colors when the NASCAR Cup Series visits the Kansas Speedway in May and for the 400-lap event at the Dover Motor Speedway in July. The company will also serve as a season-long associate partner with Smith and the No. 38 team

Smith, an avid RC enthusiast himself, is hoping to repeat the same success he and Horizon Hobby achieved during Smith’s 2022 NCTS Series Championship campaign where the Huntington Beach, California native earned 14 top five,19 top 10’s, and four wins, with one of those wins coming at the Kansas Speedway.

“I’m excited to be back with Horizon Hobby for the next couple of seasons,” said Smith. “I go back with them to my previous time at FRM and they really are a fun partner to have on board and I can’t wait to hit the ground running with them again”

Horizon Hobby and its Losi brand has strategically built its footprint in NASCAR for RC enthusiasts and racing fans alike, becoming the officially licensed maker of NASCAR RC cars. In 2024, Horizon Hobby debuted six NASCAR Cup Series schemes, including the No. 34 Horizon Hobby Ford Mustang Dark Horse. This year, Horizon Hobby is set to unveil two of many RC racecars in the Spring. All current offerings can be found at your local RC dealer or online.

“2025 is going to be a special year at Horizon Hobby as we celebrate our 40th anniversary, said Chris Dickerson, President, Horizon Hobby. “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the FRM team and NASCAR. Chevrolet Reveals Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype at Daytona

Daytona Beach, Fla. – Chevrolet introduced its Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype ahead of this year’s running of the DAYTONA 500. The Blazer EV.R is an example of Chevrolet continuing to test, learn, and explore new technologies that could be applied to both race programs and production cars.

“Motorsports is a test bed for innovation, and a training ground for our engineers — one that allows Chevrolet to try out new technologies in a fast-paced environment against the best competition,” said Eric Warren, executive director, global motorsports competition for General Motors.

The prototype delivers over 1,300 horsepower from three six-phase electric motors that instantly rev up to 15,000 rpm, powered by a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery.

Chevrolet Reveals Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype at Daytona

Exploring new technologies allows Chevrolet to apply learnings for vehicles in the showroom. Customer choice is at the center of Chevrolet’s success in the marketplace, offering one of the broadest lineups of vehicles in the industry, from first cars to supercars and everything in between. It also offers diesel, gasoline, and EV powered vehicles for its customers.

“While we will continue to race our proven and winning V8 technology in NASCAR for years to come, we continually look for ways to improve the combination of power, durability, and efficiency to transfer learnings from the racetrack to the showroom, especially as we bolster Chevy’s consumer EV lineup,” Warren added.

Built on NASCAR’s Next Gen chassis and suspension componentry, the Blazer EV.R puts its power to the pavement via a programable all-wheel drive system and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires. Chevrolet worked closely with NASCAR and other manufacturers on the parameters and technical elements of the prototype.

GM Design worked together with motorsports engineers to give the Blazer EV.R styling features inspired by the Blazer EV SS production vehicle.

“This program was a great opportunity with NASCAR to design a new crossover utility vehicle body and bring forward design elements from our Blazer EV SS,” said Phil Zak, executive director, Chevrolet Global Design. “The EV.R prototype offers lower and wider proportions and was designed with aerodynamics and performance in mind.”

GM engineers were able to take the prototype from concept to reality, then reliably turn laps at race pace during testing last month at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina.

“NASCAR and its manufacturer partners are passionate about emerging technologies, and working to remain on the forefront of innovation,” said Brandon Thomas, NASCAR vice president, vehicle design. “With the Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype, Chevrolet and its engineers meshed new technologies with the NASCAR Next Gen platform – and the result is a powerful, exciting vehicle that we believe fans will love when they see it at Daytona International Speedway.”

Driving the prototype during testing was Justin Allgaier, Team Chevy driver, 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion.

“There are so many things you don’t think about until you’re in the car actually testing it,” said Allgaier. “I’m used to knowing my speed through gearing and listening to engine revs, so I had to totally change how I judge corner entry speed. With this platform we’re learning how to strategically adjust regenerative braking, which has a big impact on braking sections and cornering balance.”

Chevrolet will also pace the 67th DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, February 16, 2025 with the Blazer EV SS — a 615 horsepower vehicle that can go 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds1 with Wide Open Watts, making it the quickest SS model Chevrolet has ever produced. As previously announced, the honorary pace car driver is actor Alan Ritchson.

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:

You’ve had success at Daytona International Speedway. How do you negotiate staying out of the wrecks throughout the race so that you can be in contention at the end?

“I’m looking forward to getting the season started at Daytona International Speedway with my No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/Winchester Chevrolet team. This is such a big race and can set the tone for the rest of the season. You have to settle in at the beginning, because as soon as you start that race, you know there are so many eyeballs on our sport. It’s tough. It’s a game of putting yourself in position. I call it high-speed chess because you know at some point in time, you’re going to be vulnerable. You hope that someone doesn’t take advantage of that too much and cause a big wreck. It’s one of those things where you are constantly moving and trying to guess the flow of the pack. I think the best place to be is in the front most of the time, but it’s impossible now with the way we race to keep yourself up there for the entire race.”

Do you feel the “big one” coming, or does it happen so fast that you’re just in it?

“Sometimes you’re in it, and there is nothing you can do about it because you know time is running out and you’re in it either way. It’s an odd feeling knowing you are putting yourself out there and something is about to happen. It’s an issue of timing. You’re hoping you just get through it. I’ve been fortunate to sneak through some of them or be in front of some of them. You usually know when the intensity is rising, and the pack is starting to get a little bit out of control. You try to do your best to give yourself an out or be in front of it.”

Kyle Busch and the No. 8 zone Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway… Sunday’s Daytona 500 will mark Kyle Busch’s 40th career NASCAR Cup Series start at Daytona International Speedway. In the premier series, Busch owns one win (July 2008), nine top-five and 13 top-10 finishes at the World Center of Racing. The 39-year-old has led 539 laps and completed 93.1% (6,499 of 6,981) of total laps competed. Busch also holds an average starting position of 15.6 and an average finishing position of 18.1.

Stat Line… Busch kicks off the 2025 season with a career total of 63 wins, 34 poles, 251 top-five and 382 top-10 finishes in 714 Cup Series starts. The veteran driver most recently earned the victory on June 4, 2023 at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Busch ranks ninth on the all-time Cup Series win list.

Did You Know? Busch’s career best finish in the Daytona 500 is second, earned in 2019. While the Las Vegas, Nevada native is still seeking his first Harley J. Earl trophy, Sunday’s race will mark Busch’s 20th attempt in the Great American Race.

Time to Duel… Busch owns three victories – 2009, 2013, 2016 – in the Duel, the Daytona 500 qualifying race.

Immediately following at 12:15 p.m. ET, the two-time Cup Series Champion will be at the zone Activation in the Fan Midway.

KYLE BUSCH QUOTES:

What are your expectations for the 2025 Cup Series season?

“I would say in 2025, we have to go out and win. That’s our thing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a win last season and ended the streak of 19 seasons with a win. Getting back to Victory Lane is the ultimate goal. We’ve just got to go out, score wins and put our Chevrolet where it needs to be. That starts with being competitive each week and having shots to reach the checkered flag first.”

The importance of spotter and driver communication is crucial at Daytona International Speedway. What is that communication like and how important is that to you?

“Communication with your spotter is the ultimate. There’s nothing else that you really use as much as your spotter on speedway racing. You can use your mirrors, look in the camera and look behind you. But, when you are trying to understand the energy that’s coming rows back behind you, the only way to get that is from your spotter. When you’re in traffic and you’re three or four rows back, you’re trying to understand what the gaps are in front of you, so you know how hard to push the guy in front to get your lane moving forward.”

How do you utilize the draft to make those runs and can you explain that process to fans that might not know what drafting is?

“The draft is a big deal and honestly, the energy in the draft now is not necessarily coming from ahead of you, it’s more so coming from behind you. Two, three, four, five cars behind you is where that energy really develops and you get pushed forward from that momentum. The draft is different than what it used to be. Years ago, you would kind of suck up to the guy in front of you, slingshot past him and make him move that way. Now you’re really relying on everything happening behind you and building from behind.”

Jesse Love and the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway… Jesse Love has made two career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Daytona International Speedway, both coming last season behind the wheel of the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. In his Xfinity Series debut at the World Center of Racing one year ago, the Menlo Park, California native earned his first career pole position, led the most laps (34), and captured his first career stage win. Love also has one career ARCA Menards Series start, where the young driver started from the second position, faced motor issues, and finished in seventh-place.

Did You Know? Love was the third youngest pole winner in Xfinity Series history at Daytona International Speedway and just the 14th driver to claim the first starting position in their series debut.

Rookie of the Year… During his Xfinity Series rookie campaign, Love secured his first series win (Talladega Superspeedway), seven top-five and 18 top-10 results, while qualifying for the Playoffs, finishing seventh in the overall driver championship point standings, and claiming the Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors.

Top of the Board… Love ended the 2024 season with a series-leading five pole positions – four of which came at drafting tracks.

About Whelen Engineering… Whelen Engineering is a family-owned company with a pioneering spirit and a passion to protect the lives of those who protect and serve others. The company mission is to provide industry-defining safety solutions around the world, while creating a community of problem-solvers who are inspired to push boundaries and continue our legacy of delivering ground-breaking innovation. Every part of every Whelen product is proudly designed and manufactured in America. We embrace quality as our foundation, we celebrate innovative engineering in every product we produce.

Meet Love… Fans have two opportunities to meet Love before the 20-year-old takes to the high banks of Daytona International Speedway. On Saturday, February 15 at 1:00 p.m. ET, Love will take part in a fan question and answer session at the Chevrolet Display in the Fan Midway. Immediately following at 1:25 p.m. ET, the young gun will sign autographs at the RCR Merchandise Hauler in the Fan Midway. Stop by to meet Love and get new No. 2 gear.

JESSE LOVE QUOTES:

What are your thoughts returning to Daytona International Speedway?

“Is it the hardest place to drive? No. Is it the most technical track? No. But it’s the magnitude of what’s at stake. To win at Daytona International Speedway means a lot. As a driver, those are the moments that fuel you. I believe that sometimes you drive harder in certain situations, and racing at Daytona is one of those days that just feel bigger. You can feel the intensity in the air.”

Explain superspeedway racing.

“Drafting tracks require a gambling mentality, where anything can happen. You can be leading in one corner and wrecking in the next. You can have the best car and not win the race, while you can have a car that is not capable of winning and win. There are a lot of variations that go into speedway racing. But traditionally, the same guys seem to win out in the end. The guys who are really smart seem to win out over the guys with more talent. Talent is on a pendulum on speedway tracks, and it takes a backseat to the mental game. What you see and how you feel matters behind the wheel. In my opinion, that comes from the hours of preparation before you climb into the car. It’s a chess match. I play a lot of chess leading up to speedway races, because I think of it as a bunch of moving pieces. There is always one move that can put you out, a bunch of moves that can keep you in contention, and one move that will win the game. When you do enough studying and preparation before you get to the track, you’ll see one guy do a move and know what’s happening five rows behind him.”

Austin Hill and the No. 21 Bennett Transportation & Logistics Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway… Austin Hill has competed in seven career NASCAR Xfinity Series races at Daytona International Speedway, earning three victories – a resounding 43% of his starts. Over the last six Xfinity Series races, the Winston, Ga. native has started on the front row for all but one at the World Center of Racing. Hill also has six NASCAR Truck Series starts, securing the checkered flag in his 2019 victory.

Defending Race Winner… Hill returns to Daytona International Speedway as the defending back-to-back-to-back race winner of the Xfinity Series season opening event. Since joining Richard Childress Racing in 2021, Hill has driven the No. 21 Chevrolet to Victory Lane in each of the season-opening races.

In Good Company… With his 2024 victory, Hill is currently tied with NASCAR Hall of Famers Dale Earnhardt (five), Tony Stewart (four), and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (three) for the most consecutive wins in the Xfinity Series’ February event at Daytona International Speedway.

Did You Know? Hill’s 532 laps led on drafting tracks ranks third behind Earnhardt (573) and Earnhardt Jr. (691).

Rearview Mirror… During his third season behind the wheel of the No. 21 Chevrolet for RCR, Hill earned four wins, 11 top-five, and 20 top-10 results, and one pole, en route to securing his first career Championship 4 berth. Hill’s four victories came at Daytona International Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway (twice), and Homestead-Miami Speedway. The racer led a total of 245 laps and finished fourth in the overall driver championship point standings.

Immediately following at 12:45 p.m. ET, the 30-year-old will sign autographs at the RCR Merchandise Hauler in the Fan Midway. Stop by to meet Hill and purchase new No. 21 gear.

AUSTIN HILL QUOTES:

What is your viewpoint entering a superspeedway race?

“Superspeedway racing is more of a mental game, over being physically demanding or technically sound. You have to outsmart your competition from start to finish. Having a good race car is important, but when you go to a place like Daytona International Speedway, anyone has a shot to win the race. The biggest factor is the communication between driver and spotter. There is a bond that you have to have with your spotter. If he tells you that you are clear by an inch, you take it. There isn’t time to second guess that information. Even if your mirror makes you think otherwise, you have to 100% trust your spotter and make the move. Playing your cards right, taking the runs at the right time, and knowing when not to take runs are all important keys to having a successful day on a superspeedway.”

What emotions do you feel when you drive through the tunnel at Daytona International Speedway?

“There are butterflies and the anticipation of getting back behind the wheel. We finish our season in November and have a couple months to prepare for the next year, so when we finally make it to the track again at Daytona, it’s go time. The history of the track and what it means to win at Daytona set in every time we drive through the tunnel. Just to be there and have a shot at winning is special. Then once you strap into the car, it all goes away and it’s back to business.”

Bocuse is the First Junior Driver to Progress Through the Full Porsche Single Make Ladder and into Carrera Cup

LOVELAND, Colorado (February 13, 2025) – JDX Racing today confirmed 17-year-old Paul Bocuse as part of its 2025 Carrera Cup North America lineup. Bocuse is the 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Cayman Pro-Am champion and in 2024 was the runner-up in the Championship’s 911 992 Pro-Am class. In 2025, he’ll continue his climb to the Pro Class of Carrera Cup in a JDX Racing-prepped Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Bocuse’s past success, which included multiple karting championships before the move to cars, has him eyeing both an overall title and the EBOOST Porsche Motorsport North America Porsche Junior crown.

“I’m super excited to be moving to Carrera Cup, especially with a team like JDX,” Bocuse said. “The history they have with past winners like Parker Thompson and Trenton Estep really made me want to try to continue that tradition. The team at JDX Racing has been super accommodating in our preseason test and I’m ready to get the season started in Sebring.”

Bocuse will represent partners Orlinski and Featherlite Coaches, along with longtime JDX partners Byers Imports and Porsche Columbus, during the 2025 season with JDX Racing.

“We really believe Paul is an up-and-coming superstar in our sport, and we at JDX Racing are going to do our part to continue his development,” Jeremy Dale, JDX Racing Team Principal, said. “But we’re also going to remember that he’s just 17-years-old and go one step at a time with him. He’s talented and intelligent, and he and his team have made all the right decisions along the way. This season will be a test, but one we’re confident he will pass with flying colors.”

The young driver is the second confirmed in the 2025 JDX Racing lineup in advance of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America opener at Sebring International Raceway in March. JDX Racing previously announced Sabré Cook’s addition to the Carrera Cup line-up for 2025.

JDX Racing has been a stalwart of Porsche Carrera Cup North America since its inception in 2021, and in the Porsche GT3 Cup championship prior to that. The team claimed the driver’s championship with Parker Thompson in 2022 and has been a multi-time winner in each season of the championship.

The Porsche Carrera Cup North America season is the premier single-make championship in North America, pitting identically matched Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars together in races that often feature upwards of 40 drivers. The IMSA-sanctioned championship runs in conjunction with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Formula One throughout the season, putting the eyes of the motorsports world on the drivers competing.

Each round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America season is available live, through the subscription streaming service Peacock as well as IMSA.tv, and IMSA’s YouTube Channel.
