Welcome Back: AM Racing returns to the ARCA Menards Series full-time in 2024 with sophomore Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) driver Christian Rose behind the wheel of the team’s No. 32 Ford Mustang, continuing with Saturday night’s Shore Lunch 250 presented by Dutch Boy Paints at Elko (Minn.) Speedway.

The 2024 ARCA Menards Series season will mark the first time that AM Racing has competed back-to-back full-time in the NASCAR-owned development series since three-time ARCA Menards Series winner Gus Dean drove for the organization during the 2017 – 2018 seasons, respectively.

Meet Christian Rose: Rose, a former Division 1 baseball player for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore has traded the glove and bat in for a steering wheel and helmet and has set achievable goals for his second full season of stock car competition aboard the team’s flagship No. 32 Ford Mustang.

Rose returns to the Statesville, N.C.-based team on the heels of his inaugural rookie ARCA schedule in 2023, which was highlighted by two top-five, 13 top-10 finishes, and the most laps completed by any ARCA driver last season at 2,550 of 2,624 laps or 97.2% throughout the 20-race season.

His strength of two top-five and five top-10 finishes in the final five races of the season vaulted Rose to third overall in the championship standings behind series champion Jesse Love and Andrés Pérez de Lara.

The 29-year-old also made two starts in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, respectively, with starts at Richmond (Va.) Raceway and the season-finale at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway.

He’s Back Too!: To help steer Christian Rose and the AM Racing team towards a championship in 2024, Ryan “Pickle” London will return to serve as crew chief of the No. 32 Ford Mustang this season.

London, a long-time NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series crew chief, returned to AM Racing in early 2023 after spending the 2020 season as the truck chief with the team’s Truck Series program.

London has plenty of experience as a leader in the ARCA Menards Series, including guiding drivers Tom Hessert and Frank Kimmel to poles and leading Grant Enfinger to victories at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway and DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds in 2014.

In addition to the two wins as crew chief, the winning NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series crew chief has numerous ARCA top-fives and top-10 efforts to his credit.

Partner Support: The Department of West Virginia Tourism will serve as the primary marketing partner on Rose’s No. 32 Ford Mustang in Saturday night’s Shore Lunch 250 presented by Dutch Boy Paints at Elko (Minn.) Speedway.

The Department of West Virginia Tourism promotes West Virginia as a leading four-season travel destination and top state to live, work and retire.

Known as the Mountain State, West Virginia is one of the most scenic states in the United States and home to thousands of acres of parks and public lands, including America’s newest national park and 45 state parks and forests.

In addition to its majestic mountains and rolling hills, West Virginia is full of rich historic sites, enchanting art galleries, charming towns and an immense sense of belonging found only in its heaven-like landscapes.

After running the Department of West Virginia Tourism winter paint scheme in the first four races of 2024, the AM Racing team will continue with their summer scheme for the 200-lap race this weekend.

Squeaky Blue Clean: In March, AM Racing and Christian Rose proudly announced the addition of Blue Wolf as a partner to the team’s ARCA Menards Series platform for the remaining nine races in 2024.

Originally created by a West Virginia coal miner and a chemist to clean and degrease mining equipment, Blue Wolf quickly became trusted as a proven product for getting the job done.

As miners began taking the product home, they soon discovered that Blue Wolf worked great on everything from removing grease and coal dust from carpets and work clothes to pressure washing houses.

Today, Blue Wolf offers a full line of cleaners and degreasers for household, automotive, and industrial use.

Blue Wolf will serve in an associate role for Saturday night’s race.

Christian Rose ARCA Elko Speedway Stats: Saturday night’s Shore Lunch 250 presented by Dutch Boy Paints at Elko (Minn.) Speedway will mark Rose’s second ARCA start at the iconic half-mile short nestled in Elko, Minnesota – a famed northwest short track staple.

In his Elko Speedway ARCA debut last summer, Rose earned a 10th-place finish during the 2023 edition of the Menards 250 after starting 10th.

The effort was among his 13 top-10 finishes claimed for the rookie ARCA driver during the 2023 season.

In 12 career ARCA short track races, Rose has delivered three top-five and nine top-10 finishes.

Christian Rose Career ARCA National Series Stats: In 39 career ARCA National Series starts, Rose has earned five top-five and 18 top-10 finishes highlighted by a career-best third-place finish achieved at Salem (Ind.) Speedway in September 2023.

Additionally, Rose has showcased 27 top-20 finishes overall since 2022.

Since 2022, he has maintained an average finishing position of 12.8.

Former Winners: AM Racing is a former winner at Elko Speedway. In 2018, AM Racing driver Gus Dean charged to his second career ARCA Menards Series victory in an impressive triumphant driving the No. 32 GREE Chevrolet for the Statesville, N.C.-based team.

Dean survived a late-race restart to hold off hard chargers Christian Eckes and Joe Graf Jr. to propel AM Racing to Victory Lane.

Elko is the home short track of AM Racing owner Kevin Cywinski.

To The Point(s): Entering Elko Speedway, Rose is fifth in the ARCA Menards Series championship standings, just 12 markers behind ARCA Menards Series driver Kris Wright for fourth, with nine races remaining.

Rose stands 85 points in the arrears to championship leader Andrés Pérez de Lara.

AM Racing stands a respectable eighth in the ARCA Menards Series championship owner standings.

Slingin’ That Dirt: Since Daytona, Rose has been teamed up with AM Racing’s Dirt Division and getting experience behind the wheel of a Dirt Modified to strengthen his driving skills.

Rose will continue participating in select Dirt Modified events as his schedule allows this season.

Thanks For Your Support: With 55 percent of the 2024 ARCA Menards Series season complete, AM Racing and Christian Rose would like to thank their associate marketing partners for their support: AirBox Air Purifier, Blue Wolf Cleaners, Flying Circle, Mobil 1 and Whitetail Smokeless.

Salem Speedway | Mid-Summer Classic 200 Race Recap: In the 11th ARCA Menards Series race of the season, Rose returned to short-track racing at the legendary Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana.

After qualifying his No. 32 Department of West Virginia Tourism Ford Mustang 11th, Rose had to drop to the rear of the field for unapproved adjustments before the 11th race of the season.

From the drop of the green flag, Rose steadily marched forward. By the first race break, he had avoided the plethora of caution and banged up race cars to move inside the top-10.

Falling a lap down in the early onset of the race, Rose’s hard work and determination paid off with a caution putting the AM Racing sophomore driver back on the lead lap and a march towards the top-five.

With a fast No. 32 Department of West Virginia Tourism Ford Mustang, Rose continued to march forward and found himself in a horrendous battle with Will Kimmel and Isaac Johnson for a spot inside the top five.

Able to overhaul Johnson, Rose, despite his best efforts, was not able to overtake Kimmel but followed the respected veteran driver to the checkered flag in fifth – earning his third top-five finish of the season.

Saturday’s effort was the team’s best result since finishing fifth at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in July.

Christian Rose Quoteboard:

On Elko Speedway: “After our strong performance last weekend at Salem Speedway, I’m upbeat about returning to Elko Speedway on Saturday night.

Our car was extremely fast at Salem, and I’m hopeful that we can capitalize on that speed on another short track this weekend. Elko is not the easiest short track in the world.

“Its unique layout demands a different driving style to make sure you can capitalize on your momentum and carry the speed when you need it the most. “I learned a lot last year and I feel confident we can be better than 10th and hopefully challenge for back-to-back top-five finishes on Saturday night with our No. 32 Department of West Virginia Tourism Ford Mustang.”

CUT TIRE ENDS EDDIE TAFOYA JR’S NIGHT AT VENTURA – SANTA MARIA IS UP NEXT AUGUST 10

Eddie Tafoya leading the way. Kenny Lonngren photo.

(Chino, CA, July 30, 2024) Southern California Racing Star Eddie Tafoya Jr. had a shot in the Surecan Shootout at the famous Ventura Raceway. However, a cut tire knocked the pleasant driver out of the Ultimate Sprint Car Series 30-lap main event presented by Inland Rigging.

Tafoya, the 2018 PAS Young Guns champion and 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, was racing the family-owned #51T for the first time in USCS competition. Two years prior to Saturday’s show, Tafoya drove to his first-ever USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series Woodland Automotive Display fast time at Ventura. On the same night, he finished 5th in the 30-lap main event. Therefore, it came as no surprise to anyone when he drove to the second fastest time in his qualifying group of eight cars at the Shootout. After qualifying, he continued to show speed in his 10-lap heat race. Starting on the outside of row two, he drove forward to finish second.

The main event saw Tafoya coming off the outside of row five in 10th. The veteran driver worked his way up to eighth in the caution flag-plagued race. Most importantly, he stayed out of the numerous tangles. However, on one of the restarts, he got clobbered from behind. The blow tore a hole in his left rear tire and knocked the 27-year-old Chino Hills, California driver out of the race. Unfortunately, that saddled him with a 21st-place finish.

Despite the disappointing outcome, he is sixth overall in the USCS championship standings.

Tafoya is amidst a three-week break in his racing schedule. He used the first part of his time off to grab some sun and fun south of the border. When he gets back, he will be prepping his cars for a pair of races in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series. First up will be an August 10th outing at the Santa Maria Speedway where he finished second in a USCS race on June 15th. One week later he will return to his home track, Perris Auto Speedway.

Friendly Tafoya is always happy to meet the fans in the pits after every race. He will sign autographs, pose for photos, and sell his beautiful 2024 team shirts. For fans who cannot attend the races, the team shirts are available at www.specialty-fasteners.com.

Fans can follow Tafoya on Instagram @eddietafoya51.

Tafoya and the #51T team would like to thank Specialty Fasteners, Inland Rigging, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Gasper Transportation, CMI Precision Machining, Owen’s Insurance Services, Keen Concrete, DRC Chassis, and Rider Racing Engines for supporting its racing program.

6 Tips for Finding a Mercedes Dealer in Arizona

You’ve finally decided to switch to Mercedes? Or perhaps you’ve been loyal to this brand for a long time now, but you simply need to update your set of wheels? Whatever the case it is, Mercedes is undeniably always a smart choice! If you’re thinking of buying a used one, and if that is your first time doing it, maybe you want to first get more info on whether Mercedes actually makes for a good used vehicle.

Now, whether you are buying a used or a new Mercedes vehicle in Arizona, one thing is for sure. What you want to do is find a great dealer and thus ultimately get the perfect car for you. It goes without saying that the dealer will play a huge role in the quality of the vehicle and of the overall services you will get. So, your entire focus should be on finding and choosing the right Mercedes dealer in Arizona.

The only thing is, if you don’t have much experience with this, you may not know how to exactly find and select that perfect dealer. It might be a long time since you last bought your car. Or you may not have been using this brand in the past. Whatever the case is, if you are confused about how to find and choose these professionals, then you could definitely use some tips. So, below, I am going to offer those tips that will help you go through this process and make the right decision.

  1. Get Recommendations

How do we begin? Well, first off, ask yourself if you know anyone who drives a Mercedes, and who has possibly recently bought one. If the answer to that question is yes, then you definitely have the upper hand, because you will get to talk to those other owners and check where it is that they have bought their vehicles. They will recommend some dealers, and you will remember their recommendations because you will have to do some more research later on. The bottom line is that you should ask for suggestions, but you shouldn’t jump right towards cooperating with those dealers that the people will recommend because you have to research them further before making your final choice.

This could perhaps also help with making the choice: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-find-experienced-mercedes-dealers-alfie-thomas/

  • Find More Dealers Online

Naturally, you shouldn’t stop your search after getting those recommendations. To put it differently, you should use other methods to look for these professionals as well. And, clearly, the best method to use is browsing the Web. Most great Mercedes dealers in Arizona are bound to be online, and it is your task to find them. Everyone understands the value of being represented online, which is why browsing the Web in search for these experts is the right thing to do, as you will get acquainted with numerous different ones that way.

  • Check Their Websites

If you’re planning on randomly selecting one of the companies, you’ll come across during your process of searching online, or after getting those recommendations, then you definitely don’t have a good plan. Instead, you should take some time to do some more detailed research before making any decisions and before buying your new Mercedes. Start by checking out the websites of those dealers you are considering, as that is where you will be able to find some quite useful information.

For one thing, you will get information about their experience levels, which is undeniably of crucial importance. You want to choose those companies that are rather experienced because that will be an indicator that they can provide you with high-quality services, as well as with perfect vehicles. And there is absolutely no doubt that you want to get great services and great vehicles, which is why checking experience is a must. Basically, you should use the process of visiting their websites to get as much useful information as you can before making any choices.

  • Check Their Reputation

There is one rather important thing that you will absolutely have to check before deciding which company to choose and where to buy your new Mercedes. I am talking about the reputation of the dealers. It should go without saying that you want to choose a highly reputable and reliable dealer. The only thing is, you may not know how to exactly check the reputation when researching different dealers in Arizona.

Well, that certainly isn’t difficult. All you have to do is find and read some online reviews that the past buyers have written. This way, you will get to not only find out how reputable the dealers are, but also check the quality of the vehicles. This is especially important if we are talking about used vehicles. In any case, checking the reputation is a must, so make sure to do it before moving forward with your decision.

  • Check the Selection of Vehicles

Now, when you decide to buy a new vehicle, you will probably have a few specific options in mind. So, what you will want to do next when checking out different mercedes arizona dealers is check the selection of their vehicles. By doing this, you will get to check if the companies you are considering actually have the types of cars that you are thinking of buying. Whether you want to buy a new or a used one, this is something you will absolutely have to check right at the start, because you don’t want to waste your time contacting dealers that cannot provide you with what you want. Although, sometimes, contacting them even if they don’t have the car you want on their site may be a good idea, as they could still be able to give you an offer.

  • Compare the Prices

Here is the final thing to do. Compare the prices of the Mercedes cars you’re thinking of buying, because chances are that different dealers will be offering different prices. Sure, those can be quite similar, but if you can save some money, doing so is definitely a good idea. Thus, compare the costs, but keep all the other mentioned factors in mind and then select the Arizona dealer that you want to buy your vehicle from and finally make that purchase and update your set of wheels.

GMG Racing Brings an IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup Entry in Every Class to Road America

Winning Pro-Class Competitor Yves Baltas Joins Masters Class Contender Kyle Washington and Two-Time 2024 Pro-Am Race Winner James Sofronas in Three-Car Porsche Carrera Cup Entry for this Weekend’s Road America Doubleheader

ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin (July 31, 2024) – GMG Racing fields for the first time an entry in every class competing in this weekend’s IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup North America race at Road America that features twin 40-minute sprints on the 4-mile “America’s National Park of Speed” on Saturday and Sunday.

Masters class contender Kyle Washington and two-time 2024 Pro-Am division winner James Sofronas welcome debuting team driver Yves Baltas, who competes in the No. 15 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the Pro class at Road America. Joining Sofronas as a Carrera Cup race winner last month at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, the arrival of Baltas adds a Pro-class front-runner to GMG Racing’s competitive stable of Carrera Cup entries.

“It’s certainly exciting to have Yves onboard,” said GMG Racing Founder and Principal Sofronas. “He’s a young and up-and-coming star and we are looking forward to showcasing his talent with ours with a Pro entry in Carrera Cup. We both won our classes in a rainy first race in Montreal, and Kyle did great too with a Masters podium in the wet, so maybe this is destiny bringing us together! It’s great for GMG Racing to have a car in all three classes. Of course, it would be real nice to sweep the weekend in all three classes, but the main mission as always is giving Kyle and Yves the best cars possible while I am just coming along for the ride, enjoying a fun season in Carrera Cup.”

Washington secured his second season-best third-place Masters finish of the year in Montreal to join Baltas and Sofronas on the podium and looks to build on that momentum this weekend at Road America in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

“I’m looking forward to another weekend at an amazing yet challenging race circuit,” Washington said. “I really need to work on the Kink and get my speed up on that turn, as everyone knows it eats cars if you get it wrong. If I can sort that one out, I love the rest of the track. Being Canadian, I love the braking zone in the Canada Corner. Getting those two spots right will give me a great chance.”

Baltas shifts to GMG Racing just two races after his first Carrera Cup win at Montreal that he followed up with a second-place overall and Pro-class finish the next day in the Canadian Grand Prix weekend’s final race.

“I’m thrilled to join GMG Racing and can’t wait to hit the track with them this weekend,” Baltas said. “This is an exciting new chapter, and I’m eager to work with the team to push for the best results. The passion and energy at GMG Racing are inspiring, and I’m ready to give it my all on race day!”

Sofronas scored a Pro-Am victory in Montreal for the second time this season after winning the opening race of the championship last March at Sebring in his No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. He also swept both races in his Carrera Cup debut in 2023’s season-ending race weekend at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) to give him a stout record of four wins in the span of his last seven Carrera Cup races coming into Road America.

This weekend also marks the return of Sofronas to Road America after he was sidelined for four months following an August 2023 practice accident there. The COTA Carrera Cup doubleheader last October were the first races for Sofronas since last summer’s incident, and he courageously made it a winning return.

“It’s always good to get back to Road America, and I have had more than a month off since Montreal, so I am kind of anxious to jump back into a race car for the first time since then,” Sofronas said. “And what better place to get back in action than the best track in North America. My first professional race at Road America was in 1994, but my biggest race incident also came there last year. At this point I am just looking to get back there and tackling all of that four-mile circuit after a bit of a summer break. I am anxious to get back behind the wheel.”

On track for four full days, Carrera Cup practice sessions are scheduled for 3 p.m. CDT on Thursday and 9:35 a.m. CDT on Friday. Qualifying takes place Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. CDT.

The weekend’s pair of 40 minute races are scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m. CDT Saturday and 11:35 a.m. CDT on Sunday.

Both races air live at PorscheCarreraCup.us, on NBC’s Peacock streaming app, on the IMSA YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@imsaofficial and on IMSA.TV. The Porsche Motorsport North America YouTube channel also archives all races at https://www.youtube.com/c/PorscheMotorsportNorthAmerica.

North Wilkesboro to Host Country’s Top Late Model Stock Car Drivers This Saturday

  • The zMAX CARS Tour returns Saturday, Aug. 3, for the rescheduled Reverend 100 Pro Late Model race and Window World 125 Late Model Stock Car race, which were postponed due to weather during the NASCAR All-Star Weekend in May
  • Tickets are available online at NorthWilkesboroSpeedway.com

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (July 31, 2024) – This Saturday, a full day of on-track action awaits fans at North Wilkesboro Speedway, as the zMAX CARS Tour takes to the famed .625-mile race track. The country’s top Late Model Stock Car (LMSC) drivers will convene for the Window World 125, and will be joined by Pro Late Model drivers for the Reverend 100.

Consistently touted as one of the best on-track racing products in the southeast, the zMAX CARS Tour is the home of both up-and-coming drivers and wily veterans, as well as NASCAR drivers itching to get behind the wheel during the two-week season break for Olympic event coverage.

More than 40 Late Model Stock Cars are entered in the Window World 125, including entries for NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, Cup Series driver Josh Berry, Xfinity Series drivers Brandon Jones and Sammy Smith, and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series regular Layne Riggs, as well as notable up-and-comers Brent Crews, Connor Hall, Carson Kvapil, Brenden “Butterbean” Queen, Connor Zilisch, and LMSC veterans Bobby McCarty and Peyton Sellers among many others. The event also includes more than 30 Pro Late Model entries for the Reverend 100. Fans can meet their favorites at a driver autograph session scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on race day.

With just six events remaining for the LMSC division before the season finale at North Wilkesboro Speedway on October 19, Hall leads the standings ahead of Crews and last year’s event winner Queen.

“I never try to dwell on it, but it’s cool to see the bigger names in the Late Model race and last year to know that I won and beat them all it was really, really special,” said Queen regarding the NASCAR drivers expected to compete. “We go there and do our job and put our helmet on and do our job. You want to beat the best and we love to race against them. To be the best you gotta beat the best. We love when they come and run with us because it puts a bigger spotlight on our series.”

“We’re really looking forward to coming back here in a couple of weeks and getting after it,” Ronnie Bassett, Jr., the winner of the most recent CARS Tour race at Hickory Motor Speedway, commented at a pre-event test session on July 13. “You’re going to get a heck of a show, that’s for sure. You know, we we race hard every lap. This new tire, we’re on, there’s no more riding or saving, it’s qualifying laps for 125 laps. So you’re going to get your money’s worth, that’s for sure.”

“You listen to Kevin Harvick talk about the series on Twitter and he obviously loves it,” said Crews at the same test session. “The racing the past three races has been incredible. We had a three-wide finish and then that last race we had William Byron racing with him three wide, and just incredible racing, I think that’s what makes the CARS Tour so special. You have so many good drivers that race so hard every week and these legendary teams like JR Motorsports and Kevin Harvick Inc., so cool race teams and cool drivers and cool cars I think will make great racing on [August] third.”

“From a CARS Tour standpoint, we need a backbone racetrack of our series to be able to say, ‘Hey, this is kind of the marquee place of where we race,’ and that is North Wilkesboro,” remarked Harvick. “I think with everything that Dale [Earnhardt, Jr.,] has done and North Wilkesboro Speedway and [Speedway Motorsports] and everybody to bring North Wilkesboro back, the CARS Tour and North Wilkesboro Speedway go hand in hand. So to be a part of that means a lot for our series. It means a lot to me to to be a part of the event. And we’re pretty lucky to have a race track like this to kind of be the marquee event of the CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car series.”

“The biggest thing to really take in is the fact that when they see our kids, our guys, our gals on the race track is to realize that out of that bunch that they’re looking at the next stars of motorsports,” zMAX CARS Tour director Kip Childress commented. “Brendan is a good example of that, Carson Kvapil is another good example. Our drivers who just this year are having opportunities to race at the higher levels of motorsports, whether it’s the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series or NASCAR Xfinity Series. So, pay close attention to these kids that are running, because it won’t be long before you’re seeing them on Sundays.”

Fans who are missing their regular NASCAR coverage can make a full day of it at the historic racing facility, with spectator gates for the Aug. 3 Reverend 100 and Window World 125 opening at 9:15 a.m., followed by practice and qualifying for each series. A driver autograph session is scheduled for 6:45 p.m., with pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions at 7:45 p.m. Click here for a full schedule of activities.

Winward won four of the year’s first six races and backed it up with a second-place finish one race ago at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The four victories are the most for any WeatherTech Championship team in any class this year, with no teams in the series’ three other divisions winning more than two races.

The No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 team has built the best overall performance record in the WeatherTech series with victories in the season’s first three endurance races at Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen and a sprint race win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Full-season team drivers Ward and Ellis were part of all four victories with Indy Donje partnering for the trio of endurance victories. Daniel Morad also joined the Winward squad as the team’s fourth and ultimately race-closing driver at the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona.

The on-track success has kept the No. 57, Ward and Ellis atop the WeatherTech Championship GTD team and driver point standings all season. Even the second-place finish in Canada three weeks ago bolstered Winward’s championship leads to season-high levels heading to Road America.

Ward, Ellis and the Winward No. 57 came into the Canadian round 305 points ahead of the nearest driver and team championship challengers, but have now increased that season-high lead to an even bigger 340 points, 2090 – 1,750, going into Road America

Mercedes-AMG maintains an even larger lead in the GTD manufacturer championship battle with 2,185 points, a full season-high 397 ahead of the second-place competitor’s 1,788 points.

The maximum points available to a driver, team or manufacturer in all GTD championships for a race win is 350, which means Winward, Ward and Ellis are just 10 points shy of having full race leads in the driver and team title battles.

Mercedes-AMG’s margin in the manufacturer championship, which more than exceeds a full-race points lead, has also been supported this season by the No. 32 Korthoff Preston Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 team. The Korthoff team and drivers arrive at Road America third in the GTD championship standings.

The No. 32 team and drivers Mike Skeen and Mikael Grenier stepped up to earn the championship points for Mercedes-AMG in April at the Grand Prix of Long Beach with a third-place finish. The victory lane visit was the first podium result for the Korthoff team since finishing third in GTD last year at Road America.

Skeen and Grenier co-drove to last year’s Road America podium as well, but this weekend their teammate Kenton Koch, a Korthoff endurance race regular, steps into the No. 32 to co-drive with Grenier. Skeen, who has been with the Korthoff team since its debut season in 2021, will be back in the car with Grenier and Koch for the year’s final two races in Indianapolis and Atlanta as Korthoff looks to repeat its 2023 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup GTD Championship.

Combined with Winward’s four wins and lone runner-up finish this season, Korthoff’s visit to victory lane at Long Beach makes Mercedes-AMG the only competing brand in the WeatherTech Championship’s two GTD classes – GTD and GTD Pro – to place a car on the podium in each of the year’s first six races.

A pair of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing teams are also entered in Saturday’s two-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Road America in the top-tier Grand Sport (GS) class.

Morad and co-driver Bryce Ward – Russell Ward’s father – share the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 while Jesse Webb and teammate Michai Stephens co-drive the No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4.

Bryce Ward, Morad and the No. 57 team are determined to have a rebound performance at Road America after being knocked out of the most recent race in Canada at the start. Bryce Ward was uninjured in the incident, but the last-place finish that was a result of the hit was a devastating blow to the team’s championship bid.

Winward opened the season with three podium finishes in the year’s first five races, and similar, if not better, results at Road America and the year’s final three races that follow will be needed to fight back into a top-three championship position.

A winning Mercedes-AMG GT4 team in its first year in IMSA GS competition, JMF, Webb and Stephens have shown race-leading pace all year. Season-best finishes of seventh at Sebring and Mid-Ohio, however, are not indicative of the on-track potential of the No. 34 team and drivers.

A three-day race weekend, the Road America schedule gets underway with opening practice for the WeatherTech and Pilot Challenge series on Friday.

Saturday begins with GS qualifying at 8:20 a.m. CDT to set the grid for that afternoon’s two-hour Pilot Challenge race that is scheduled to start at 1:45 p.m. CDT. A final WeatherTech 90-minute practice takes place Saturday at 9:55 a.m. CDT, with GTD qualifying wrapping up the day that afternoon at 4:20 p.m. CDT.

Sunday’s sole on-track action for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport customer teams is the featured two-hour and 40-minute IMSA WeatherTech Championship race that is slated to go green at 2:10 p.m. CDT for the two-hour and 40-minute race.

Live race coverage begins at 3 p.m. EDT on NBC’s streaming network Peacock with same-day broadcast coverage airing on CNBC later on Sunday at 6 p.m. EDT. International viewers can watch the race live on IMSA.TV starting at 3 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

Philip Ellis, Driver – No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3: “It’s nice to go into the next couple of races with a good lead, but it only takes one bad weekend where you don’t make the race to have that lead disappear. So, it’s still the same mentality as we have had at the races going into Road America with no mistakes and having a clean race. We will capitalize on other people’s mistakes, just do our jobs, keep it clean and see where we end up. For us as a team, it is just focusing on the execution of the race. I expect Road America to be a bit better than last year with the new asphalt being run in a little, so the racing itself should be a little more interesting, and better on our side as well. It should be a good weekend, just like we had one race ago in Canada, and we will be banking on a good qualifying and then having a good race as a team. The team has been doing a great job on strategies the entire year, and we have been one of the strongest teams on strategies the last few seasons. With the current performance rules, we will have to use that strategy to our advantage, maybe play the fuel game, which won us the race in 2022. We will try to do the same again, but there is always risk management, where you don’t want to sacrifice too many points going for one single result. We will keep the outlook on the overall championship.”

Mikael Grenier, Driver – No. 32 Korthoff Preston Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3: “Last year at Road America we were good on strategy and able to get a podium. We will focus on strategy again and on having a good qualifying because getting and trying to keep track position will be very important for us. It is good to have Kenton with us this weekend.”

Michai Stephens, Driver – No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4: “From one high-speed coliseum to the next! The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park weekend opened our eyes to a few things we hope to take advantage of at Road America. Maximizing the chassis performance across a wide range of corner types, long straights, heavy brake zones and aggressive curbing demands a lot from not only the car but the team and drivers as well. Like Canada and Daytona, drafting strategies and techniques will likely play a significant role in how we maintain pace and manage fuel saving. The team has been growing stronger with every round of the championship, and the passion to secure a top-five finish and ultimately a podium by season’s end is still strong! Given Road America’s proximity to my home in Illinois, I do consider it to be one of my home tracks, with Indy being a close rival. The reality of my childhood dream of being a racing driver comes into focus with the presence of family and friends because they have all played active roles in the timeline that has brought us to this moment. Funny enough, I enjoy knowing exactly which turn my family is watching from because it’s guaranteed to provide a burst of overwhelming energy lap after lap!”

Event Preview: Wright Motorsports at IMSA SportsCar Weekend, Road America

Racing the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer, the team aims to capitalize on their momentum and close in on their first win in the 2024 season.

“After sitting out the previous round in Canada, we’re excited to get back to racing in the IMSA WeatherTech series,” said Team Owner John Wright. “We have many years of experience running Porsches at Road America and we’ve had strong results so far this year. Elliott Skeer

I’m Very much looking forward to what will be a packed IMSA weekend at Road America! It’s a super cool feeling going from old-school track to old-school track and getting the full experience of North American sports car racing at its best. Wyatt Coffey claims 2024 Summer Shootout Bandolero Bandit championship

Wyatt Coffey poses with his Summer Shootout championship belt after capturing the Bandolero Bandits championship Tuesday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

CONCORD, N.C. (July 31, 2024) – Wyatt Coffey’s spectacular summer just keeps getting better.

On Tuesday evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the finale of the annual Summer Shootout series, Coffey claimed the Bandolero Bandits championship with a thrilling drive to his eighth victory of the series.

It is the first Summer Shootout championship for the 11-year-old from Waynesboro, Virginia.

“It’s so cool to say I won a Summer Shootout championship,” said Coffey, who won eight of 10 Bandolero Bandit races during the 2024 edition of the Summer Shootout. “So many NASCAR drivers have raced here. Hopefully someday I can be racing in NASCAR and say I raced here too.”

Winning Tuesday’s Summer Shootout feature was no easy task for Coffey despite winning the pole for the 20-lap feature. He was in the lead for a restart with 10 laps left but didn’t get a good jump and fell to fourth by the time a lap was complete.

Not to be denied, Coffey calmly went to work passing cars. With four laps left Coffey made the race-winning move to regain the lead. He cruised to victory by more than 1.5 seconds.

The victory is just another feather in the cap for Coffey during an incredible summer of racing, which has already included nearly 30 victories, a championship at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Thunder series and a win in his debut race in the 600cc Winged Micro class at Millbridge Speedway.

“I just like passing cars,” Coffey said. “It’s so amazing to be able to do this and I wouldn’t be able to do this without all my sponsors. I’m so thankful for all of them and Mike Gordon, my mom, dad and poppy. This is just great.”

Wyatt Coffey would like to thank Team Gordon, his mom, dad, poppy, Tonya McCallister and MPM Marketing, along with his sponsors Coltman Farms Racing, Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction Inc., ArborLife Professional Tree Care, United Tire & Auto, Bradley’s Trucking, R&M Automotive, Bennett’s Hometown Garage, Payne’s Enterprises, Todd Rental, Mt. View Auto Sales, Checkered Flag Graffix, CB Industries and Triple R Cattle.
