Fitted with rain tires, each of the Nationwide Series drivers were required to make at least one lap during the practice session. In the end, it was Brad Keselowski topping the charts with a lap of 74.596 seconds. Keselowski has three previous starts at Watkins Glen, finishing in the top 10 in each of them.

This Saturday afternoon will mark Ryan Truex's NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) road course debut as he returns to the seat of the No. 20 Grime Boss Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Victor Gonzalez Jr. will return to the cockpit of the No. 99 Delta Commercial/IMCA Toyota Camry for the first time since the Sargento 200 at Road America in June. Gonzalez has continued racing in various other series throughout the break and recently scored back-to-back wins in the National Motor Racing Championship held at the Autodromo Mobil 1 track in the Dominican Republic.
