Sheehan Seeks More Despite TA2 Top Ten Season Finish

Bow, NEW HAMPSHIRE – November 24, 2020 – Tom Sheehan roared back into the top ten of the ultra competitive TA2 Class in the final weekend of action at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, but it wasn’t enough for the 2019 Iron Man, whose ambition is clearly burning as brightly as ever in his tenure of Trans Am starts.

Rounds 8 and 9 of the 2020 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship season turned out to be the last following the cancellation of Laguna Seca, but that did nothing to dim the enthusiasm of the participants assembled in Georgia in perfect autumn weather. After a stop start season that saw him slip out of the top ten in the TA2 Drivers Championship classification at COTA, Tom Sheehan and the LTK Mustang were surely among the most determined in the paddock.

After hard contact in the opening lap at COTA the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Damon Racing Ford Mustang was driven directly to clearwater Florida home of Mike Cope Racing. Heavy repairs were needed and executed in the short time between events.

The packed Brazelton, Georgia racetrack with no fewer than 43 starters meant Sunday’s all-class race had the element of endurance about it, Tom started Sunday’s feature race P15 in class and in a race that included its share of cautions and a the element of slow traffic in multi class racing, Tom and the Mike Cope Mustang steadily improved to P8 by the checkered flag. It was a result that (pending final confirmation) sees him back in the top ten in the final classification table for the 2020 TA2 Drivers Championship.

However, Tom was brutally honest when our reporter spoke to him after the race, ” We really lacked speed all weekend,” was his initial assessment, before adding, “The car was off for one reason or another and we never gained on it. Lots of effort and hard work to put it back together following the shunt at COTA. The guys at Mike Cope Racing took us in again and made it happen, no way for us to do this without them.

Despite finishing 11th and 8th provisionally following the double race weekend at Road Atlanta, Tom couldn’t hide his dissatisfaction with the season overall, “It was a very tough season,” he said. “There were no really good days. Nothing worked out, no lucky breaks – that’s racing sometimes. My back is sore, my fillings hurt but it will not make racing any different. Be ready, be hungry and be resilient!”

“We have two fast Cope cars, this car and a new Mike Cope Racing car we built this year. We go back home to work hard and be ready for the new season. Preparation for 2021. Forget 2020, I am over it.”

Tom and the highly professional Damon Racing team are nothing if not resilient, and will no doubt return with determination redoubled when Trans Am returns at Sebring International Raceway in Florida February 19 – 21, 2021.

CONCORD, N.C., (Nov. 24, 2020) – Ryan Newman’s post-Daytona 500 crash has been well documented, and his story is once again featured in national headlines as he is featured in NASCAR 2020: Under Pressure, a multi-part documentary that tells the story of the 2020 NASCAR season.

Newman’s episode, Now or Never, debuted on Nov. 14, exclusively on the MotorTrend app. The episode picks up after a whirlwind summer when NASCAR returned to ‘The World Center of Racing’ for its final race in the regular season. As part of the episode, Newman returns to the site of his horrific crash in which he was mere feet away from his second Daytona 500 trophy, and picks up Newman’s life and outlook in the weeks and months following.

Produced for the MotorTrend Group by NASCAR Productions, NASCAR 2020: Under Pressure has something for everyone, from huge NASCAR fans who will appreciate the behind-the-scenes access, to documentary buffs who should find the mix of action and stress of navigating the unparalleled nature of this season highly entertaining.

As documented in the show, Newman went on to make a miraculous return, walking out of a Florida hospital just two days following the crash. When COVID-19 halted NASCAR – and much of the world’s schedule – the time off was a silver lining for Newman, as he was able to return to the track in May as part of the sport’s return, having missed just the three West Coast races immediately following the incident.

Plans for NASCAR 2020: Under Pressure to air on broadcast television will be announced at a later date. Additional episodes will continue to air until Dec. 12. With your free trial to the MotorTrend App you will also get access to over 3,600 hours of automotive entertainment, including shows from MotorTrend, Discovery Channel, live events and more. Mario Fuentes and Justin Lofton Finish 3rd in Class 1 at The Baja 1000

Mario Fuentes and team land on the podium in debut race in new Jimco Hammerhead Class 1 Car

The team of Mario Fuentes, Bob, and Justin Lofton piloted the #179 Jimco Hammerhead Class 1 car to a hard-fought 3rd place finish at the 2020 Baja 1000. The team also included co-pilots Derek Balcunas, Cody White and Hector Fierro. The team completed the longest loop in the history of the Baja 1000 in an ultra-rough and technical course finishing with a time of 25:03:48.022.

Mario Fuentes started the race and drove to race mile 275 where he handed the car to off-road racing veteran Bob Lofton. Bob took the car to race mile 427 where he handed it over to his son and off-road champion Justin Lofton to take it to the finish line.

“It was a great first experience for me racing in Class 1 and it was a very tough course. I got nerfed at race mile 24 and my rear tire carrier broke. After we fixed that, we had a clean run. I feel very fortunate to have teamed up with the Lofton’s. They have a ton of racing experience and are great people. This was a very special race for me – it was my daughter Emilia’s Birthday, so it felt like a double celebration. Thanks to all of our chase crew from Jimco, the Lofton’s, and The Fuentes team. Special thanks to Hiper Gas Energy Resources, Baja Gas and Oil, Lofton Racing, Dougans Racing Engines, Fortin Racing, and Yokohama Tires. I especially want to thank Jimco Racing and Robbie Pierce for running all the chase logistics and having such a great full-service shop. They really make racing off-road fun and easy! I can’t wait to be racing again in 2021!” stated Fuentes.

Justin Lofton took the last leg of the ultra-technical course, piloting the #179 Jimco Hammerhead Class 1 from Race Mile 427 to the finish. “We had a relatively smooth run. Mario and my Dad did a great job not getting caught up in any of the bottlenecks that happened. I broke a right rear brake line through one of the washes which took about 10 mins to repair. The course was slow technical which took a lot of discipline to not overdrive. I would like to thank Mario for letting us drive his new Jimco Hammerhead Class 1 Car. Jimco Racing flawlessly prepped and ran great pit support combined with our crew,” stated Lofton.
The Baja 1000 concludes the season of racing in the 2020 SCORE Desert Championship. Look for Mario Fuentes to be racing in his #179 Jimco Hammerhead Class 1 car in the 2021 SCORE Desert Championship.

UEFA Europa League Group Stage Predictions

Image by Michal Jarmoluk from Pixabay

With the UEFA Champions League calling the attention of fans around the world, many people may leave the UEFA Europa League behind. However, it is a competition full of interesting teams and confrontations, in which bettors could find good opportunities to bet and make some money.

That is why author Kate Richardson made a list of predictions to matches that may not be in the spotlight, but can also bring good chances to bettors who want to place their bets on the Europa League. Let’s take a look.

CSKA MOSCOW – FEYENOORD

For Group K, the match between CSKA Moscow and Feyenoord will happen next Thursday at the CSK Arena in the city of Moscow.

The Russians have presented poor football at European level so far, having only two points and being at the bottom of the group table. Feyenoord have also been inconsistent in this Europa League so far, where they are 3rd in Group K with the same four points from second place Wolfsberger and one behind first-place Dinamo Zagreb.

In a group with highly balanced accounts at the start of the second round, this will be an important match for the aspirations for CSKA Moscow and Feyenoord. Thus, a dynamic game is foreseen in offensive terms, since both teams should be more concerned with adding the three points than with not losing.

Due to the offensive quality that the Dutch have, in contrast to some defensive problems, a game with several opportunities is expected, so the best bet option will be in the over 2.5 goals market.

BRAGA – LEICESTER

For Group G, Braga, from Portugal, will welcome Leicester City, from England. The match will be held at the Municipal Stadium of Braga.

Carlos Carvalhal’s men are currently second on the group table with six points, just three behind their opponents Leicester, who are currently on the top of the table. So far, Leicester count only with victories in the Group G.

The differences between the two teams are striking and, even playing at home, Braga should have some difficulty balancing the game against one of the best teams in the Premier League this season. It will be difficult to end up the same as three weeks ago at King Power Stadium, but it should still be Leicester who dominates most of the time and create more and better goal opportunities. Thus, the Asian handicap of Leicester City is an interesting bet with nice odds.

LILLE – AC MILAN

For Group H, Lille, from France, will welcome AC Milan, from Italy in a game for matchday 4 of the Europa League. At the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, this match is expected to be very interesting, as it will count with the two better teams in group H.

Lille have had a good campaign in the Europa League so far, being currently at the top of the table with seven points. The second place, AC Milan, is just one point behind and knows that this direct confrontation could mean the first place of the group. Also, both teams are having good moments in their national leagues, as Lille are in second place in the French League and Milan are in first place in the Italian League.

In a clash between the two best teams in Group H, as the results of the first round proved, a balanced and very well played game is expected, where AC Milan seeks to “avenge” the 3-0 defeat suffered at home against the French club. Both teams have plenty of offensive qualities to be able to dismantle the opposing defensive organization and create good goal opportunities. Thus, the best investment will be in the market for both teams to score.

Conclusion

As we have seen in this article, the UEFA Europa League provides some interesting confrontations, games that have big clubs and others that are already famous in European Leagues, as well as matches full of excitement and chances of betting.

If it was necessary to choose only one market for all three matches, it would probably be the over 2.5 goals. However, in this case here, the best would be betting in each of the markets that were suggested at the end of the match predictions, as each of the games count with different markets.

If you want to choose a place to bet on the UEFA Europa League, because you are new to the betting world or you want a new bookmaker, take a look at the website Mightytips.com. They offer reviews of a great variety of online bookmakers in the market in order to help new and old bettors to choose the best place to put their money and make their bets.

They also count with a team of specialists that make predictions and betting tips for free.
