Last week must have been a dream. I mean the euphoria of a new young star winning the biggest race of the season with a team that has few resources but a long history couldn’t possibly have happened.
Like every other NASCAR fan I had been looking forward to the Daytona 500 since the end of last season. Then in the blink of an eye, everything changed.
Well the long awaited start to the season is in the history books. The racing was long hard and not overly exciting at times. History did indeed repeat itself. But not the history folks believed would repeat.
So, what did we learn at the Daytona 500? Well, we learned that if the rest of the races this season are comparable to the first, 2011 will be one hell of a year in NASCAR.
