Layne Riggs | Chandler Smith
Martinsville Speedway NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Race Advance
Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200

Date: Friday, March 28, 2025
Event: Race 5 of 25
Series: NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series
Location: Martinsville Speedway (0.526-miles)
#of Laps: 200
Time/TV/Radio: 7:30 PM ET on FS1/SiriusXM channel 90

Layne Riggs Notes

Layne Riggs will make his third Martinsville Speedway NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start this Friday night. In his two previous starts at the famed short-track, Riggs has one top-15 and one top-10, finishing 15th in the NCTS April visit and sixth in the November race in his 2024 rookie season.

After partnering with Riggs during his 2024 rookie season, Infinity Communications will return to sponsor Riggs and the No. 34 Ford F-150 for the 200-lap event. The wireless telecom company played a key role in Riggs’ 2024 Sunoco Rookie of the Year campaign, helping Riggs capture four top-10 finishes.

With a diverse portfolio of expertise and strategically positioned facilities nationwide, Infinity Communications can meet all the needs of major wireless providers. From network configuration to network recovery, Infinity Communications’ services are actively expanding and introducing new cutting-edge technologies to the world of wireless communication.

“Infinity Communications is excited to continue our partnership with Front Row Motorsports and Layne Riggs for the 2025 season,” said Jeff Coffey, Owner, Infinity Communications. “While our role is different this year, our commitment to supporting Layne and his team remains the same. Layne is a talented driver with a bright future, and we’re proud to be a part of his journey. We look forward to seeing him continue to excel on the track this season!”

With a second-place finish last Friday night at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, Riggs is on a two-race streak of finishing in the top-five and now sits eighth in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Driver Championship points standings. Cutting his teeth in the local short-track scene, Riggs and the No. 34 team view the Martinsville Speedway as a track that they can earn their first win of the 2025 season.

“Martinsville is by far one of my favorite tracks,” said Riggs. “The beating and banging, door to door racing is what I grew up on, and I just feel comfortable at the short tracks. It’s going to start with qualifying if we want to leave with a good result. Martinsville is a tough track to pass at and it takes a lot of discipline to get around. I’m confident in myself and the team, though. We have a good streak going of top-five finishes and I want to continue that this weekend. It’s great to have Infinity Communications back on board this Friday. Jeff Coffey has been a long time supporter of my career and I’d like to pay him back with a checkered flag.

“I have a good track record at Martinsville,” said Smith. “As a team, we are in a great spot. We’re building fast trucks, executing on pit road, and running up front. We just need to be there when it matters to capture the win. I think we can do that this Friday.”

  • Byron led Spire Motorsports to its inaugural CRAFTSMAN Truck Series victory in the 2022 Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 200. Byron started 32nd after qualifying was cancelled due to inclement weather. He meticulously worked his way through the field, taking the lead on Lap 105 during pit stops prior to the Final Stage. The No. 7 Silverado swapped the lead with Chandler Smith over the next several circuits, but Byron went on to lead a race-high 94 laps en route to his first grandfather clock trophy. The win came in the driver’s first and only prior appearance with the team, and Spire Motorsports’ second start in the series.

  • In NASCAR Cup Series competition, Byron has tallied five top-five and eight top-10 finishes at Martinsville, including a pair of victories. His April 2022 win came two days after his CRAFTSMAN Truck Series score with Spire Motorsports, and the April 2024 victory capped off Hendrick Motorsports’ 40th anniversary celebratory weekend.
  • The blue and white HENDRICKCARS.COM colors will wrap Spire Manufacturing chassis SMT-058. The truck will make its 27th start Friday. William Byron Quote
Last time you were in a Spire truck, you came out on top. What are your thoughts heading into the weekend?
“It’s been a bit since I raced for Spire Motorsports, but I’m excited to get back. The last time I raced with them we got the win at Martinsville (Speedway). It’s been a couple years but I’m ready to get back in a truck and get some extra laps for the weekend. Hopefully we can duplicate the success we had last time and come away with another clock.”

Atop the No. 07 Box – Crew Chief Allen Hart
Allen Hart will call his fifth race atop to pit box in Friday’s 200-lapper from Martinsville. He earned his first career win in the crew chief role last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway where Kyle Larson won the Baptist Health 200. After a spin midway through the Final Stage, Larson made an impressive run through the field over the event’s final 40 circuits, chasing down the leaders with two laps remaining to make the winning move.
As an engineer at JR Motorsports, the Midland, Mich., native helped Justin Allgaier to a runner-up finish in the Xfinity Series October 2020 visit to the Virginia half-mile.

  • In his first CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event for Spire Motorsports at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Day secured his first Kennametal Pole Award and led the field to the green flag. He maintained top-five track position throughout the event’s first two stages until contact with another competitor cut his right-front tire, leaving him 27th in the final rundown.
  • Friday’s 200-lap event will mark Day’s seventh CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start. He competed in four events in 2024 for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing.

Corey Day Quotes
What are your thoughts heading into Martinsville?
“Martinsville (Speedway) is another track that I’ve already had some laps at so I’m hoping to build off of what I already know from last fall. It’s quite a bit different from the last two tracks we’ve raced at but Brian (Pattie, crew chief) has been a great help to me so far this year and think that’s only going to get better the more races we have together.”

Atop the No. 7 Box – Crew Chief Brian Pattie

  • The 24-year veteran spent 14 seasons in the Cup Series. As a crew chief, he has earned six wins in Cup Series competition and 11 in the Xfinity Series. He stands as one of 11 crew chiefs to win races across all three of NASCAR’s national touring series.
  • The 49-year-old has stood atop the box for 29 NASCAR Cup Series events at Martinsville Speedway, collecting five top fives and 10 top 10s, highlighted by a runner-up finish with Clint Bowyer in 2013.
  • Last month, the No. 7 team defended its 2024 victory in the Fr8 208 at Atlanta Motor Speedway with Kyle Busch behind the wheel. The Las Vegas driver spent all 135 laps in the top 15 while leading a race-high 80 laps and calculating a field-leading average running position (3.2) and driver rating (124.6).

Rajah Caruth – Driver, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado

  • Rajah Caruth will pilot Spire Motorsports’ No. 71 HENDRICKCARS.COM Chevrolet Silverado in Friday’s Boys & Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200 at Martinsville Speedway.
  • In last spring’s trip to the famed half-mile, Caruth started 16th and converted a race-high 43 quality passes en route to a seventh-place finish. The result marked the team’s fourth top 10 through six events.
  • HENDRICKCARS.COM is the online home for everything Hendrick Automotive Group. Visitors can shop more than 30,000 new or pre-owned vehicles, locate centers for service and collision repair, receive a value to sell or trade their car, chat online with customer service, discover career opportunities, learn more about vehicle protection programs, and explore how the company gives back to the community.
  • Caruth collected four top 10s on concrete tracks last season with finishes of eighth, seventh, fourth and third, respectively, at Bristol Motor Speedway (March 16), Martinsville (April 5), Nashville Superspeedway (June 28) and Bristol (Sept. 19).
  • The 23-year-old owns a pair of NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Martinsville, both of which resulted in 12th-place efforts with Alpha Prime Racing. The finishes mark a career-high in the series for the driver.
  • The 2024 season marked a career year for Caruth where he tallied one win, a pair of Cometic Gasket Pole Awards and five top-five finishes, all of which were the first of his young career. The 12 top-10 finishes on the season tripled Caruth’s total of four in 2023, while his average starting position of 10.7 was four positions higher than 2023 and his 11.6 average finish was an impressive seven positions higher.
  • With his first career CRAFTSMAN Truck Series win last season, Caruth became the third African-American driver to win a NASCAR National Touring Series race.
  • Caruth and the No. 71 team qualified for the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series playoffs in 2024, the first such appearance for the former Washington, D.C., resident. Despite reaching the Round of 8, mechanical issues stalled his championship bid in the season’s penultimate event at Martinsville.
  • Caruth will be behind the wheel of Spire Manufacturing chassis SMT-070. In 19 starts, the truck visited Victory Lane three times with Chandler Smith (Phoenix, Nov. 2021; Las Vegas, March 2022; Richmond, Aug. 2022), paced the field for 318 circuits and recorded an 8.7 average finish. Nick Sanchez piloted the chassis to a fourth-place result last November at Phoenix Raceway.

Rajah Caruth Quotes
What are your thoughts heading into Martinsville?
“I really started to like Martinsville through the races I ran there in the Xfinity Series, but it is a far different approach when you are in a truck. I have a personal goal of improving at certain racetracks, and Martinsville is on the list. Hopefully, when we come back in October, a trip to the Championship 4 will be on the line. The goal this year is to advance past Martinsville, so giving good feedback and building out our notebook even further than we already have will be key this weekend.”

You carry the Hendrick name on your Silverado every week. What would it mean to park it in Victory Lane at Martinsville?
“Martinsville is hallowed grounds for Hendrick, both on the Motorsports and Automotive Group sides. Mr. H and Ms. Linda have a deep history at the track, and a win would mean a lot for everyone under the Hendrick banner. It would be a special day if we can get the job done and bring all the great men and women at Hendrick Automotive Group to Victory Lane.”

Atop the No. 71 Box – Crew Chief Kevin “Bono” Manion

  • Veteran crew chief Kevin “Bono” Manion calls the shots for Rajah Caruth and the No. 71 team in 2025.
  • The 53-year-old has called 12 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races at Martinsville Speedway, collecting two wins, seven top fives and eight top 10s.
  • The Boylston, Mass., native led Zane Smith to victory in November 2021, which propelled the No. 21 GMS Racing team to the Championship 4 after entering the event in a must-win situation. Smith led 65 laps and reclaimed the lead coming to the white flag as competitors made contact behind.
  • After jump-starting Spire Motorsports’ CRAFTSMAN Truck Series program alongside industry veteran Mike Greci in 2022, Manion led the team to its first victory at Martinsville in 2022, in what marked the organization’s second start in the series. After swapping the lead with Chandler Smith, Byron pulled away to lead a race-high 94 laps and claim the program’s first victory.
  • Manion stood atop the box for 21 NASCAR Cup Series at Martinsville Speedway where he called four top-10 finishes.

  • In 2023, Manion became one of few to call a race in all three of NASCAR’s national series in a single season, all of which came under the Spire Motorsports banner. He led the part-time effort on the No. 7 Silverado in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, helped in limited starts for Carson Hocevar in the Xfinity Series and took the reigns during the second half of the Cup Series season for Ty Dillon and the No. 77 team.

Andres Perez de Lara – Driver, No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado

  • Andres Perez de Lara will pilot the No. 77 Telcel Chevrolet Silverado for Spire Motorsports in the Boys & Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200 at Martinsville Speedway.
  • While the 19-year-old will make his first start at the Virginia half-mile this weekend, Perez de Lara made 12 short track starts across his two full-time seasons in the ARCA Menards Series. He earned nine top fives, an average finish of 4.5 and a pair of runner-up finishes in 2024 at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Salem (Ind.) Speedway.
  • The Mexico City native saw success on short tracks during his time in the NASCAR Mexico Series. His lone win in the series came at Ovalo Aguascalientes, a 0.875-mile oval. Perez de Lara made several appearances in both the NASCAR Mexico Series and NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series at Autodromo Potosino, another half-mile oval, in San Luis Potosi. In seven starts at the Martinsville-like venue, he earned two top fives and four top 10s.

  • Perez de Lara will pursue Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in 2025 and sits second in the standings for the award, 27 points behind leader Gio Ruggerio.
  • The 2024 ARCA champion juggled his duties while also competing full time in the NASCAR Mexico Series. In 2023, he earned the Rookie of the Year award while finishing fourth in the division’s championship point standings and reaching the series’ version of the NASCAR playoffs.
  • Spire Manufacturing chassis SMT-056 will be driven by Perez de Lara Friday night. The truck has two wins in its 23 starts, visiting Victory Lane with John Hunter Nemechek at Pocono (June, 2021) and Kansas (September, 2022).

Andres Perez de Lara Quotes
What are your thoughts heading into your first visit to Martinsville?
“I am really excited for Martinsville, given it is the first short track of the year. I grew up racing on short tracks in Mexico, so I feel that I will be able to adapt quickly. There is a track pretty similar to Martinsville in Mexico that I raced at a lot. Racing on the short tracks in ARCA was good preparation for the new short tracks I will see this year. Some of my best runs in ARCA came at short tracks. I feel confident about the work the team has put in for this weekend and that we have an opportunity for a good result.”

What are going to be the keys to success for this weekend?
“We all know tempers can flare at short tracks, especially Martinsville. The main thing for me is to remain patient and not put myself a bad position. We are going to try our hardest to stay out of trouble throughout the night. If I can remain patient and keep my Telcel Silverado clean throughout the night, we should be up there at the end.”

Atop the No. 77 Box – Crew Chief Chad Walter

  • Crew chief Chad Walter will be atop the box for Andres Perez de Lara and the No. 77 team in 2025.
  • The 53-year-old has called five CRAFTSMAN Truck Series events at Martinsville Speedway, snagging a top 10 last spring with Rajah Caruth.

International Speedway on July 7, 2019. Less than three years later, William Byron drove Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado to its inaugural NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series win on April 7, 2022, at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. The team’s most recent win came on March 21, 2025, when Kyle Larson took the checkered flag in the Baptist Health 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

In 2025, Spire Motorsports will campaign the Nos. 7, 71 and 77 Chevrolets in the NASCAR Cup Series. The team will also field the Nos. 07, 7, 71 and 77 Chevrolet Silverados in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and the No. 77 Chevrolet in the ARCA Menards Series in select events.

Ford Performance NASCAR – Blaney Looks To Continue Winning Ways at Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE 1

Friday, March 28 — NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1)
Saturday, March 29 — NASCAR Xfinity Series, 5 p.m. ET (CW)
Sunday, March 30 — NASCAR Cup Series, 3 p.m. ET (FS1)

Ford teams in all three of NASCAR’s top series will be in action once again as another tripleheader is scheduled for this weekend at historic Martinsville Speedway. The half-mile paperclip-shaped short track will kick off the first of its two weekends with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Friday night, followed by the NASCAR Xfinity Series Saturday and NASCAR Cup Series Sunday.

BLANEY RIGHT ON TIME

One of the most unique trophies in NASCAR is Martinsville’s grandfather clock, which goes to the winner of any major series race at the track. Ford’s Ryan Blaney has won two over the past two seasons after winning the playoff race in 2023 and ’24. When the series visited last November, Blaney was in need of a win in order to advance to the NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4. He passed Chase Elliott with 14 laps remaining after taking on tires under caution with 100 laps to go. Blaney worked his way up to fourth with 54 laps to go and then third 13 laps later before running down Elliott and passing him as they came to the start-finish line on lap 486. In addition to earning his third win of the year, Blaney’s triumph was the 100th all-time Cup win for Team Penske with Ford.

LOGANO LIKES MARTINSVILLE

Only one other track on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit has been better for Joey Logano when it comes to qualifying than Martinsville Speedway. Logano enters this weekend with an average starting position of 8.4 at the half-mile facility and is only bettered by his 7.7 average at Las Vegas. He has six poles, including three in a row in 2015-16, and had an active streak of 18 straight top-10 starts (including races where qualifying was rained out) at one point. In 32 career races at Martinsville, Logano has an average finishing position of 10.8 and has been running at the finish of every event. He comes into Sunday’s race with a streak of 11 straight top-10 finishes.

PREECE MOVING UP IN STANDINGS

Ford driver Ryan Preece is coming off his second straight top-10 finish after running ninth on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. That performance backed up a third-place effort at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and has helped him move up eight spots in the standings from 24th to 16th. As the series heads to Martinsville Speedway this weekend, Preece looks to continue that upward climb. He finished ninth in this event a year ago while driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, and captured the only pole of his Cup Series career at the track in 2023.

TEAM PENSKE LEADING THE WAY

The only thing Team Penske drivers Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric haven’t done this year is win, but when it comes to spending time at the front of the field, the three Ford drivers have had moments of domination. Through the first six Cup races of 2025, the trio has combined to lead 554 laps or 39 percent of all laps run so far (554-of-1408). Logano leads the way with 247 and has led at least 40 circuits four times while Cindric has done the same on three occasions. In addition, all three drivers have led the most laps in at least one race this season – Cindric (Daytona with 59), Logano (Atlanta with 83) and Blaney (Homestead with 124).

RYAN BLANEY: “Winning there is nice and getting your clock. I’ve been fortunate to win there a couple times. The softer tire has been good, and I think it’s helped. I think we can continue to be aggressive on it because that’s the place to be the most aggressive with tires. It’s the slowest racetrack and you don’t have to worry about massive blowouts at high speeds, so I think Goodyear has continued to work their way softer, which is a good thing. I think it’s important as we continue to work on short track racing that you have fall off, and I think they’ve just been getting better at it.”

RYAN PREECE: “When I think of Martinsville, we’ve gotten a pole there. We’ve had speed there. It’s just putting everything together. I’ve got a few tracks that I’m really comfortable at that we go to throughout the year, and then there are other ones that I need to continue to work on, but when I think of Martinsville, Darlington and Bristol, those are all places that I’m really comfortable at. I’m a huge fan of what we’ve been working on with the Cup Series and Goodyear and making the tire better and better to race. They’ve done a great job.”

KESELOWSKI WINS FIRST CLOCK

Brad Keselowski outdueled Kyle Busch down the stretch to win his first grandfather clock trophy after capturing the STP 500 on Apr. 2, 2017. The two drivers waged a memorable battle that saw them swap the lead five times in the last 160 laps, but Keselowski ended up making the decisive pass on lap 458 and led the final 43 circuits to become the first repeat winner in 2017. Prior to winning at Martinsville, Keselowski took the checkered flag at Atlanta in the second race of the season.

BOWYER NETS FIRST FORD WIN

Clint Bowyer snapped a 190-race winless stretch by leading the final 114 laps to win the weather-delayed STP 500 in 2018. The win was Bowyer’s first with Ford and ninth of his career. He passed Ryan Blaney on lap 285 to gain the lead for the first time, and when Jamie McMurray brought out the caution 100 laps later after hitting the wall, Bowyer’s pit crew got him back out with the lead and that proved to be the difference. That capped a big day for Ford, which had five drivers finish in the Top 10 and saw Blaney win Stage 2.

HAAS FACTORY TEAM ROLLING

Through six races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series season, the Haas Factory Team has already served notice that they’re going to be contenders for Ford on a weekly basis. The newly-branded organization has had new drivers Sam Mayer and Sheldon Creed both finish in the top five of the same race twice (Daytona and Homestead). Mayer finished second in both of those events and that’s where he currently sits in the point standings while Creed, whose best finish is a third at Daytona, is fifth overall.

FRONT ROW FINDING ITS GROOVE

The Front Row Motorsports tandem of Layne Riggs and Chandler Smith have both been solid for Ford through the first four races of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Smith, who is currently third in the point standings, is one of only two drivers to post a top-10 finish in every race while Riggs has registered back-to-back top-5 runs, including a runner-up effort last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

2025 Triple Truck Challenge program commences at Martinsville

NASCAR’s Triple Truck Challenge program from the Craftsman Truck Series division returns this upcoming weekend at Martinsville Speedway. The return of the series’ program for the 2025 season will feature a trio of new venues and an early start-up timeframe compared to the previous six seasons of the program’s existence.

The 2025 Triple Truck Challenge program’s schedule will span over three events for a seventh consecutive season, beginning at Martinsville Speedway this upcoming Saturday, March 28. The initiative will then continue for the series’ next scheduled event at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 11 before concluding in the series’ return to Rockingham Speedway on April 18.

Ironically, the upcoming season will mark the first time ever where Martinsville, Bristol and Rockingham combined will host a Triple Truck Challenge event. In addition, the trio of venues will align with the Xfinity Series’ remaining three Dash 4 Cash program events. Amid the schedule, this season will also mark the series’ first visit to the Rock in Rockingham, North Carolina, since April 2013.

Each Triple Truck Challenge event will offer Truck Series regulars three opportunities to notch a $50,000 bonus for themselves if a race victory is achieved. Opportunities for the bonus to increase to $150,000 is also on the line if a series’ regular wins two Triple Truck Challenge events. The bonus could then be increased to a $500,000 payday if all three events are won.

Overall, the program, which debuted in 2019, will enable Truck Series regulars to battle amongst one another and acquire any means necessary on the track to attain the forefront of attention both for themselves and the attraction of their series.

Since its debut in 2019, a total of 15 competitors have notched a Triple Truck Challenge bonus purse of $50,000 at least once. To date, Sheldon Creed and Corey Heim are the only competitors to achieve the bonus multiple times, with Creed having accumulated the most bonus victories at three. Creed is also the only competitor to have won the challenge twice in a single season, which occurred during his championship season in 2020. As a result, Creed, who won the challenge’s scheduled events at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course and at World Wide Technology Raceway, notched a $150,000 bonus.

This past season, Nick Sanchez commenced the program’s occurrence in 2024 by claiming his first $50,000 bonus after he notched his second series victory of the season and of his career at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. Sanchez’s victory occurred in an event where the Truck Series ran its 700th race in history. Corey Heim, who fell short to Sanchez at Charlotte, would redeem himself by claiming the second bonus with his fourth victory of the season at World Wide Technology Raceway in early June before Christian Eckes capped off the program by winning at Nashville Superspeedway in late June for his third victory of the season. Eckes’ victory occurred in an event where he led all 150-scheduled laps.

Thus far in 2025, both Sanchez and Eckes have moved up to full-time Xfinity Series campaigns with Big Machine Racing and Kaulig Racing, respectively. Meanwhile, Heim will contend for additional opportunities to claim more of the program’s bonus money as he is campaigning in his third full-time Truck Series campaign with TRICON Garage. Among other former program winners who will contend for more bonus opportunities for this season include Ben Rhodes and Grant Enfinger, both of whom achieved their first in 2023.

Mired within the Truck Series regulars contending for the Triple Truck Challenge bonus, the program’s events will also be open for Cup and Xfinity competitors to compete in, but they will be ineligible to contend for the series’ bonus.

The 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ Triple Truck Challenge program commences this upcoming Friday, March 28, at Martinsville Speedway for the Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200. The event’s commencement time is scheduled to occur at 7:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

The team has amassed a total of two top-fives and four top-10 finishes including a second-place result in 2019 with Ross Chastain. Last spring, Kaden Honeycutt led the organization with a ninth-place effort.
  • Strong Outing in Miami: Last week’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway marked the second race of the season to feature two Niece Motorsports entries finish inside the top-10. The team led the field for a considerable portion of the race with Chastain behind the wheel of its No. 44 entry before finishing sixth.

No. 42 J.F. Electric / Utilitra Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Matt Mills | Crew Chief: Mike Shiplett

  • Mills’ Martinsville Stats: Matt Mills has made two NCTS starts at Martinsville Speedway, both of which came last year. His personal-best finish was 19th in the fall race. Mills has also competed in six NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) races at ‘The Paperclip’, finishing as high as 18th in April, 2022.
  • Shiplett’s Martinsville Stats: Both of Mike Shiplett’s NCTS starts at Martinsville were made last year; working the first race with Bret Holmes and the second with Mills. Shiplett has called 12 NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) races at the short track, finishing as high as 12th with AJ Allmendinger in 2010. He also called one NXS race at this track in 2023.
  • On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from longtime partners J.F. Electric and Utilitra, who will serve as his anchor partners for the entire 25-race season.
  • Recapping Homestead-Miami: Matt Mills and the No. 42 team finished inside the top-15 after a hard-fought race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Mills started the evening off in 17th, and had a relatively smooth set of first two stages. After making adjustments on the final pit stop of the night, Mills gained track position in the final run to the checkered flag, walking away in 14th-place.
  • Points Rundown: Mills’ 14th-place finish at Homestead-Miami netted him four positions in the points standings. Currently scored in 15th overall, Mills trails Matt Crafton in 14th by 11 points with a gap of three points over Jack Wood in 16th. He is currently 25 points below the Playoffs cutline heading into Martinsville.
  • Quoting Mills: Do you anticipate there being an uptick in pace on the short track package this year?

“I feel like we’ve done a lot of work over the offseason to help our short track program because that was a struggle point for us last year. Short tracks personally have been a bit of a love-hate relationship for me, especially Martinsville. It’s all about track position, and it’s a different style of race craft now. Really, if we can get out of there with a top-10, that would be a really solid day for us and the J.F. Electric / Utilitra team.”

About J.F. Electric: J.F. Electric is an electrical contractor that provides engineering expertise, backed by construction and installation know-how in a diverse range of service offerings, from utilities and commercial projects, to industrial and telecommunications customers. When having a long family history in an industry, a company not only builds on its knowledge and experience, it takes pride in cultivating a solid understanding of client needs, all the while nurturing strong relationships with its employees. Evolving through five generations of the Fowler family, J.F. Electric has matured into a well-managed and thoughtfully diversified electrical contractor which is poised to continue its growth and expansion into the future.

About Utilitra: Utilitra is a woman-owned firm specializing in utility and technology solutions with a diverse team of specialized professionals. Utilitra is committed to solving their client’s unique challenges, whether one expert or a team of experts is needed. By adapting to the needs of their respective industries, Utilitra has built a range of services for their utility and technology partners.

No. 44 Moore’s Venture Foods Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Matt Gould | Crew Chief: Wally Rogers

  • Gould Returns: NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts Weekly Series racer, Matt Gould, will pilot the No. 44 Chevrolet in his third-career NCTS start for Niece Motorsports on Friday night. The 19-year-old son of crew chief, Phil Gould, made his series debut at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway last season and later competed in the fall Martinsville event as well. He is the third driver to share the No. 44 entry this year following Ross Chastain and Bayley Currey.
  • Gould’s Martinsville Stats: Gould made his first start at Martinsville last October, an event where he started 22nd and finished 27th after experiencing mid-race mechanical issues.
  • Rogers’ Martinsville Stats: Wally Rogers has played a role in 12 NCTS races at Martinsville Speedway dating back to 2004. Rogers’ drivers have accounted for four top-10 finishes here, including a third-place effort in April, 2005 with Ron Hornaday. He has also made nine NCS starts paired with one NXS start as a crew chief at this track.
  • On the Truck: Gould’s No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from Moore’s Venture Foods.
  • Recapping Homestead-Miami: Ross Chastain and the No. 44 team put on a thrilling show at Homestead-Miami by contending for the race win all night long. Chastain, in his return to the Truck Series, qualified the highest out of the team in seventh. With a pair of top-10 finishes in both stages, the team held track position up at the front of the field. Chastain took the point on several occasions, leading for a total of 33 laps. The team was searching for more long run pace, but left the track content with a sixth-place finish.
  • Owner Points Rundown: Niece Motorsports’ No. 44 team continues to serve as the leading entry of the organization following a brilliant race at Homestead-Miami. The No. 44 currently sits eleventh in the owner points standings, 12 markers behind Front Row Motorsports’ No. 34 team which holds the final spot in the provisional Playoffs cutline.
  • Quoting Gould: Since you have a race’s worth of experience at Martinsville now, what are some of the things that you’ll pay attention to this week?

“One of the biggest things that I will try to do this week will be to keep heat out of the brakes. I remember in last year’s race, I cooked the brakes a little bit in stage one and that hurt us through the run. The other keys I’ll try to follow are staying disciplined on the bottom and knowing where I have to position on restarts. I’m very excited to come back and work with Wally and the guys on our No. 44 team. I can’t thank everyone at Niece Motorsports, Chevrolet, Moore’s Venture Foods, and Precision Vehicle Logistics enough for supporting me.”

About Moore’s Venture Foods: Moore’s Venture Foods is a family-owned grocery store chain located in Oklahoma. The chain has brick-and-mortar stores in Alva, Fairfax, Shattuck, and Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and has been operated by the Moore family for three generations. No. 45 AutoVentive / Precision Vehicle Logistics Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Kaden Honeycutt | Crew Chief: Phil Gould

  • Honeycutt’s Martinsville Stats: Kaden Honeycutt has made four NCTS starts at Martinsville Speedway. Honeycutt made his series debut here in 2022, and in last spring’s race at ‘The Paperclip’, he finished ninth with the No. 45 team. In addition to his NCTS debut, Honeycutt also made his NXS debut here as well in 2023.
  • Gould’s Martinsville Stats: Phil Gould has called eight NCTS races at Martinsville since 2019, earning two top-fives and three top-10 results. Gould’s best finish at the 0.526-mile short track came in November, 2019, when the No. 45 team finished runner-up.
  • On the Truck: Honeycutt’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from AutoVentive and Precision Vehicle Logistics, who will serve as his anchor partners for the majority of the season.
  • Recapping Homestead-Miami: For the second week in a row, Kaden Honeycutt and the No. 45 team rallied back from mid-race penalties to bring home a solid finish. Honeycutt started in 13th-place, but climbed up inside the top-10 to score points in both stages. On the final pit stop of the night, the No. 45 team was forced to start in the rear, but were able to overcome a lack of track position to parlay into an impressive top-10 result.
  • Short Track Reps: Last Sunday, Honeycutt entered the ASA STARS National Tour race at Five Flags Speedway after the truck race at Homestead-Miami. In his first Super Late Model race of the year, Honeycutt walked away with a top-10 finish (seventh) despite having mechanical woes hinder his on-track speed.
  • Points Rundown: Honeycutt continued his ascension in the points standings last weekend in Homestead, having gained four positions. Entering the fifth event of the season, Honeycutt is currently above the Playoffs cutline in 10th. He has a two-point buffer on Ben Rhodes in 11th, and is two points behind Jake Garcia in ninth.
  • Quoting Honeycutt: How important is this weekend going to be knowing that the series returns here later on in the Playoffs?

“This race is really going to be a testament to how we can be in the Playoffs and how we can set ourselves up in good position. Even if we’re not a winning truck this week, we know we can come back in the fall and know what we need to work on. We’ll need to adjust to the racetrack to be better, and going off of last year, I think we’re in a really good spot to go and have a good night in the spring. We’re hoping to go out and get a clock and get some more points to keep up our momentum on the AutoVentive / Precision team.”

About AutoVentive: AutoVentive is an industry-leading Software as a Service (SaaS) applications developer providing customized solutions to the automotive logistics industry. The company is part of Liberty Hill Equity Partners, LLC, a Cincinnati-based private equity firm.

RP Motorsports by Forte Racing Heads to Sonoma Raceway for McLaren Trophy America Season Opener

Team Kicks Off 2025 McLaren Trophy America Season While Driving Awareness and Support for Relapsing Polychondritis and related Autoimmune Disease Research

SONOMA, CA – March 25, 2025 – RP Motorsports by Forte Racing is set to kick off the 2025 McLaren Trophy America season at Sonoma Raceway on March 28-30. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as the team embarks on a competitive journey in the inaugural McLaren Trophy America Championship while continuing its mission to raise awareness and support for autoimmune disease research through the Race for RP initiative.

Piloting the #53 Race for RP/RP Motorsports by Forte Racing McLaren Artura Trophy EVO is veteran Ferrari Challenge competitor Neil “Neilio” Langberg, who has been a passionate advocate for the Race for RP mission since its inception, and co-driver Kevin Madsen. With the support of Forte Racing and program manager Jon Miller, Langberg is eager to take on this new challenge.

“Racing for me has always been about the people, and this weekend and season will be transformative; I feel ‘Brand New’,” said Langberg. “It starts with the best team on the planet—Forte Racing, along with coach/co-driver Kevin Madsen, and my program manager, Jon Miller. There’s the new car, the McLaren Artura Evo, and the new series, McLaren Trophy America. And even my gradual transition from “Neilio,” to “Nigel.”. But what won’t change is why we race. We race for patients with Relapsing Polychondritis and other autoimmune diseases, to push boundaries and drive research forward. These diseases are not incurable, just underfunded. Please join us.”

Co-driver Kevin Madsen echoed the excitement surrounding the season opener. “I’ve been fortunate to race at Sonoma before and stand on the podium, but there’s something truly special brewing within the RP Motorsports by Forte team,” said Madsen. “From Neilio’s progress on the sim and on track to the rapid gains the team is making with the car setup, I’m incredibly excited about what we can accomplish for this great cause in the wickedly fun McLaren Artura Trophy Evo. We’re racing for Relapsing Polychondritis and other autoimmune diseases, and we’re going full throttle!”

Forte Racing team founder Shane Seneviratne shared his enthusiasm for the season ahead. “Racing is about overcoming challenges, just like the fight against relapsing polychondritis,” said Seneviratne. “We’re thrilled about our 2025 entry in McLaren Trophy America and for the opportunity to build on our legacy while supporting such an important cause. Race for RP has been named the official charity of Forte Racing, and we are looking forward to not only raising awareness but also raising funds to support critical research efforts. We’re proud to contribute to this cause, proving that determination on and off the track makes a difference.”

Program Manager Jon Miller emphasized the significance of the season ahead. “It’s an exciting time of year, a new season, a new championship, and a new McLaren racecar,” said Miller. “I’m most looking forward to taking on this challenge with my friends and colleagues, Neil Langberg and Kevin Madsen, with the expert support of Shane and the seasoned veteran crew at RP Motorsports by Forte Racing. Our mission is twofold—to win races on the track and to continue to raise awareness for Relapsing Polychondritis and related autoimmune diseases. Using our motorsports platform to affect change and bring awareness, we look forward to shouting our message from the top step of the podium all season long!”

The Sonoma Raceway event marks the first of five stops in the McLaren Trophy America series, which will visit some of the most iconic tracks in the U.S., including Circuit of the Americas, Virginia International Raceway, Road America, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

RP Motorsports by Forte Racing remains committed to using motorsports as a platform for change, combining elite competition with a mission to advance research and awareness for autoimmune diseases. Le Mans debut for Pascal Wehrlein in the Porsche 963

Porsche Formula E factory drivers to compete in the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans

Atlanta., March 25, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Porsche factory driver Pascal Wehrlein will make his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14-15, 2025. The reigning Formula E World Champion from Germany will complete the Porsche Penske Motorsport driver lineup. Wehrlein will share the cockpit of the #4 Porsche 963 with Felipe Nasr from Brazil and Nick Tandy from Great Britain. Portuguese António Félix da Costa, also a full-time driver in the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, will compete in the LMP2 category, piloting an Oreca prototype in the highlight event of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC season.

  • Pascal Wehrlein to race a factory Porsche at Le Mans
  • Nasr/Tandy/Wehrlein in Porsche Penske Motorsport’s #4 entry
  • Factory teammate António Félix da Costa competing in the LMP2 class

Pascal Wehrlein is already familiar with the Porsche 963 from test sessions and his participation in the 24 Hours of Daytona in late January, where he bolstered the customer team JDC-Miller MotorSports. In June, the reigning Formula E World Champion and former DTM Champion will take the wheel of the hybrid prototype for Porsche Penske Motorsport in his Le Mans debut. He will share driving duties with seasoned factory teammates: Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy, who recently won the two major North American endurance classics in Daytona and Sebring as full-time drivers in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship. Nasr, a three-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titleholder, will be making his sixth start at the Circuit de la Sarthe. Tandy, who claimed overall victory with Porsche in 2015, brings extensive experience from twelve previous Le Mans appearances.

“The Porsche driver roster is absolutely top-tier and incredibly deep. It only makes sense to leverage our strong personnel from the Formula E factory team for the third Porsche Penske Motorsport entry at Le Mans,” explains Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport. “Pascal Wehrlein has fully convinced us with his performance in testing and his participation in the 24 Hours of Daytona. As the reigning Formula E World Champion, he has earned his Le Mans debut at the wheel of a Porsche 963. António Félix da Costa, making his seventh start in France, will undoubtedly be among the fastest LMP2 drivers once again.”

“Competing for Porsche Penske Motorsport at Le Mans is a dream come true for me. I`m looking forward to this major challenge because, unlike in Formula E, I have to share everything in the Porsche 963 that I would normally tailor specifically to myself: seating position, setup, strategy, and more,” says Pascal Wehrlein, looking ahead to his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut. “Of course, I want to add major titles in other series to my Formula E World Championship victory, but my primary goal is to do a strong job for the team and learn as much as possible. Porsche has such an iconic motorsport heritage; I am extremely grateful for this opportunity.”

While Wehrlein will first need to acclimate himself to the unique demands of the Circuit des 24 Heures in June, his Formula E teammate António Félix da Costa is no stranger to the legendary endurance race. The Portuguese driver is set for his seventh Le Mans start. In 2022, he won the LMP2 class behind the wheel of an Oreca-Gibson. The following year, he took on the 24-hour challenge with a customer Porsche 963.

“I am very happy to be back at Le Mans after one year absence,” the 33-year-old said. “In my last LMP2 appearance, I won the class. That’s my goal again this year. I can’t wait to attack alongside my teammates in June.”

Martinsville is a Racecar Wrestling Match

As a Former High School Wrestler, Cody Ware is Ready for the Cook Out 400

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 25, 2025) – Wrestling a racecar for 400 laps around Martinsville (Va.) Speedway necessitates a strong upper-body and powerful legs, connected with a tight core. The flat, paperclip-shaped .526-mile oval makes for a physical race where drivers have to pull their steering wheel hard to the left 800 times while stabbing their brake pedal at the end of each, 800-foot-long straightaway. Whether one’s car is lightning quick or could use a jolt of lightning, Martinsville pushes the boundaries of human performance as much as a car’s mechanical limits.

The wrestling analogy is an apt one for Cody Ware. The driver of the No. 51 Arby’s Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Rick Ware Racing (RWR) wrestled in high school. In fact, he did it just 45 minutes south of Martinsville in the Greensboro, North Carolina, suburb of Jamestown. At Ragsdale High School, Ware made the varsity wrestling team as a freshman. He stayed there through his junior year before his burgeoning racing career meant a pivot to homeschooling. Ware earned his high school diploma in 2013 while racing Late Model stock cars and making a handful of starts on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.

“I started wrestling in middle school, probably around 2008, and then transitioned into high school wrestling. I made the varsity wrestling team my freshman year, which I was pretty proud of,” Ware said.

“Wrestling at Ragsdale was a big deal, so to be a freshman on the varsity team was a real honor. I had to beat out one of the seniors to make the cut. It always stuck with me that while making varsity was big, staying on the varsity team was just as big, if not bigger. Nothing was guaranteed. You had to go out and earn your place every match, every year.

“It’s what really got me started as an athlete. Being really tall, I needed to develop my core strength and overall fitness. I had a larger stature and I needed to make the most of it.”

Standing at 6 feet, 4 inches, Ware’s athleticism continues to serve him well as a fulltime competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series. Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Martinsville is more than just a friendly reminder that performance applies to both car and driver.

“There’s a lot of strength needed for driving a racecar, especially when it comes to braking,” Ware said. “It takes a lot of brake pressure to extract 700-800 pounds of braking force into the corner. And at Martinsville, we’re doing that 800 times over the course of 400 laps. It’s about being on your game from start to finish, where you’re as good on lap 400 as you were on lap one.

“The wrestling analogy is a good one for Martinsville. There’s a lot of tight racing and you’re throwing your car around. It can be chaos inside the car trying to do everything you need to make a good lap.”

Ware saw that chaos as a young fan in the stands. Martinsville was his hometown track, along with Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The now 29-year-old Ware was a regular visitor to both as a pre-teen and teenager, and the Triad area where he grew up – Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point – was home to many NASCAR entities.

“We had a ton of racing in the Triad when I grew up,” Ware said. “You had mega race teams that were there back in the 2000s, like Bill Davis Racing and the No. 45 team with Adam Petty. Bobby Labonte had his shop there. Clyde Vickers’ CV Products and his son, Brian, were from Thomasville. And, of course, there’s Bowman Gray, the longest running weekly racetrack in America. There’s just a lot of history, a lot of good racing, and a lot of good racers from that area. It was cool to grow up among it all.

“And people there take a lot of pride in it. It seems that Greensboro is always the No. 1 or No. 2 media market to watch NASCAR racing. People there are tuned in, they’re connected, and I think they wear it as a badge of honor.”

Badges of honor from Martinsville come in the form of busted front grills, bashed in back bumpers and Goodyear-made donut rings on the sides of racecars. While it’s all a part of racing in such cramped confines, mitigating those badges is important to ensuring one’s racecar is there at the finish. This puts a premium on qualifying, where with more cars behind you instead of in front of you, the greater your opportunities are to have a relatively clean race.

“At Martinsville, the biggest thing is going to be qualifying and track position, and I’m going to lean on Corey LaJoie to help me on that front,” said Ware, referencing his RWR teammate who is running a limited NASCAR Cup Series schedule in 2025. “Corey’s got a lot of seat time at Martinsville. I’ll be picking his brain more than normal to try to figure out what tweaks I can make to my driving style and how I can give good feedback to the crew so I get what I need out of the car.

“Tires equalize pretty quickly at Martinsville, and 40-50 laps into a run, everyone’s pretty much running the same time, whether it’s first or 36th. Whatever you can do to start strong and either maintain track position or improve on restarts, that’s where most of your progress is going to be made throughout the day.”

Practice for the Cook Out 400 begins at 2 p.m. EDT on Saturday with qualifying following immediately afterward. The race goes green at 3 p.m. on Sunday with live coverage provided by FS1 and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

About Rick Ware Racing:

Rick Ware has been a motorsports mainstay for more than 40 years. It began at age 6 when the third-generation racer began his driving career and has since spanned four wheels and two wheels on both asphalt and dirt. Competing in the SCCA Trans Am Series and other road-racing divisions led Ware to NASCAR in the early 1980s, where he finished third in his NASCAR debut – the 1983 Warner W. Hodgdon 300 NASCAR Grand American race at Riverside (Calif.) International Raceway. More than a decade later, injuries would force Ware out of the driver’s seat and into full-time team ownership. In 1995, Rick Ware Racing was formed, and with his wife Lisa by his side, Ware has since built his eponymous organization into an entity that competes full-time in the elite NASCAR Cup Series while simultaneously campaigning successful teams in the Top Fuel class of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, Progressive American Flat Track and FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX).

What Do Tire Speed Ratings Really Mean?

Choosing the right tires is more than just picking the right size or brand. Tire speed ratings, marked by a letter, indicate the maximum speed a tire can handle. But there’s more to these ratings than just speed. They impact your vehicle’s performance, safety, and overall driving experience. Knowing what each speed rating means and how it applies to your vehicle ensures you make an informed decision for your next set of tires. This guide will explain the importance of speed rating tires, how to read them, and how to choose the best rating for your driving needs.

What Is a Tire Speed Rating?

A tire speed rating is a letter code that specifies the maximum speed a tire can safely sustain for an extended period. This rating combines with the load index to ensure your tires suit your vehicle’s performance characteristics. Automakers determine the recommended tire speed rating for each vehicle based on engineering specifications and the vehicle’s intended use. For instance, a sports car may require a high-speed rated tire to match its capabilities, whereas everyday sedans can operate safely with lower-rated tires. Understanding these ratings helps you select tires that maintain safety, optimize performance, and suit your driving needs.

Why Tire Speed Ratings Matter for Drivers

Safety and Handling Performance

Tire speed ratings are crucial for maintaining vehicle safety. Tires with higher speed ratings typically offer better handling and stability. This is because they are constructed with higher-quality materials and more advanced design techniques. When driving at high speeds or on twisty roads, the increased stability and improved handling reduce the risk of accidents. Moreover, these tires can dissipate heat more effectively, reducing the likelihood of a blowout or tire failure.

Impact on Tire Lifespan and Efficiency

While high-speed-rated tires enhance performance, they may also influence tire lifespan and fuel efficiency. High-speed tires often have softer rubber compounds for better grip, which can wear out faster under normal driving conditions. Conversely, lower speed-rated tires, made for everyday use, tend to be more durable and offer greater longevity. Additionally, the rolling resistance in higher-rated tires may be higher, slightly reducing fuel efficiency. Balancing performance demands and daily usability is key to choosing the right tire with appropriate speed ratings.

How to Read Tire Speed Ratings

Reading tire speed ratings is straightforward once you know what to look for. The speed rating is typically the last letter in the tire size code printed on the tire sidewall.

Speed Rating Letters and Their Maximum Speeds

Here’s a quick guide to the most common tire speed rating letters and their associated maximum speeds: – L: 75 mph – M: 81 mph – N: 87 mph – P: 93 mph – Q: 99 mph – R: 106 mph – S: 112 mph – T: 118 mph – U: 124 mph – H: 130 mph – V: 149 mph – W: 168 mph – Y: 186 mph – Z: 149 mph+ (for tires exceeding 149 mph)

Speed Rating Letters and Their Maximum Speed

Common Ratings and What They’re Used For

  • L, M, N, P: Generally for off-road and light trucks.
  • Q, R, S, T: Suitable for family sedans, vans, and light trucks.
  • H: Commonly found on sport sedans and coupes.
  • V: Performance tire for higher speed applications.
  • W, Y: High-performance sports cars.
  • Z: Ultra-high performance, used for exotic cars capable of 149 mph+.

Tire Speed Rating vs Load Index: Know the Difference

While speed ratings indicate the maximum speed a tire can handle, the load index shows the maximum weight a tire can support. Both ratings are essential for maintaining vehicle performance and safety. The load index is a numerical value that, when multiplied by four, should meet or exceed the vehicle’s maximum load-bearing capacity. Ensuring both proper load index and speed rating prevents overloading or overstressing tires, which could lead to tire failure. Always consult your vehicle’s manual to find the manufacturer-recommended ratings for optimal performance.

Can You Use a Tire With a Different Speed Rating?

When It’s Safe to Change Ratings

Changing your tire’s speed rating is not recommended but can be acceptable under certain conditions. For temporary use or fitting winter tires, dropping a speed rating one level below the manufacturer’s specification might be permissible. For example, if your vehicle typically uses an H-rated tire, temporarily using a T-rated tire for winter should be safe if driving conditions are acknowledged.

Risks of Downgrading Speed Ratings

Using tires with ratings lower than recommended for extended periods can significantly impact your vehicle’s handling, safety, and balance. Lower-rated tires may not provide the necessary grip at higher speeds or under stress, increasing the danger of accidents. Additionally, lower-rated tires may not effectively support your vehicle’s performance capabilities, leading to poor handling and increased wear. Always aim to match or exceed the prescribed speed rating to keep your vehicle operating safely and efficiently.

How to Choose the Right Tire Speed Rating

Consider Your Driving Habits

Your driving style greatly influences the tire speed rating you should choose. For spirited driving or frequent highway travel, a higher speed rating ensures stability and safety at higher speeds. If you primarily drive in urban settings with lower speed limits, a lower speed rating can suffice while potentially offering a longer tire lifespan.

Match Ratings with Vehicle Type and Use

It’s essential to match the tire speed rating to your vehicle’s type and intended use. For instance, family sedans or vans operate well with moderate speed ratings like T or H. Higher-performance vehicles should use V or W-rated tires to ensure optimal performance and safety. Always refer to your vehicle’s specifications to check the recommended ratings.

Real-World Examples: Touring, Sport, and SUV Tires

  • Touring Tires: Often rated T or H; designed for balanced performance and comfort, perfect for daily drivers.
  • Sport Tires: Typically V, W, or Y-rated; built for handling and high-speed stability, suitable for sports cars.
  • SUV Tires: Generally come in S or T ratings; robust construction for longer wear and ability to support heavier loads while providing a good balance between performance and durability.

Conclusion

Understanding tire speed ratings is vital for making an informed decision about your vehicle’s tires. These ratings not only guide you about the maximum safe speed but also affect handling performance, safety, and tire lifespan. By considering your driving habits and vehicle specifications, you can select the right tire speed rating that enhances your driving experience and ensures safety on the road. Always consult your vehicle’s manual or a professional to find the optimal tire speed rating for your needs. Ensuring that your tires match your driving requirements can lead to better performance, safety, and efficiency.
