Notes of Interest:

● Year Two, Full Throttle: In January, Young’s Motorsports announced that NASCAR Xfinity Series veteran Anthony Alfredo would compete full-time for the team in its second year of Xfinity Series competition.

Alfredo is driving the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro for the entire 33-race schedule, which continues this Saturday afternoon with the Hy-Vee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway.

● About Anthony: A popular driver, Alfredo, a native of Ridgefield, Connecticut, joins Young’s Motorsports with an array of Motorsports experience, including starts in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series, respectively.

The 2025 season will mark Alfredo’s fourth full-time Xfinity Series campaign, and he joins the Mooresville, N.C.-based team after spending the 2024 season with Our Motorsports.

The 25-year-old finished 15th in the 2024 Xfinity Series driver standings, highlighted by a Dash 4 Cash victory at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway. He added two more top-five finishes and seven top-10s to his career totals, further strengthening his résumé across 139 Xfinity Series starts.

● All-Aboard!: For the 22nd of 33 Xfinity Series races this season, Young’s Motorsports welcomes new partner, Wilde Protein Chips, as the primary partner on the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro for the 250-lap race on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., WILDE Brands Inc. (WILDE) produces crispy protein chips crafted from 100% all-natural chicken breast, egg whites and bone broth.

With seven craveable flavors, WILDE offers a unique “one-of-one” option appealing to hungry consumers seeking a nutritious snack that delivers on real ingredients, satisfying protein, bold flavor and a thin, crispy texture.

● Anthony Alfredo NASCAR Xfinity Series Iowa Speedway Stats: Saturday afternoon’s Hy-Vee Perks 250 will mark Anthony Alfredo’s second trip to the Newton, Iowa-based track.

In his debut at the 0.875-mile paved track, Alfredo finished a solid 15th after starting 19th in the 2024 edition of the Hy-Vee Perks 250 for Our Motorsports.

21 races into the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season — with just 12 remaining — Anthony Alfredo and the Young’s Motorsports No. 42 team remain laser-focused on one mission: mounting a late-summer charge toward the Playoffs.

This weekend, their journey brings them to Iowa Speedway, a fan-favorite short track known for its tight corners, worn racing surface, and non-stop intensity. With time running short, a win on the 0.875-mile oval could be the breakthrough Alfredo and the team have been chasing.

Conquering Iowa — a track that blends short track aggression with intermediate-style strategy — would not only send a message to the rest of the Xfinity field but represent a pivotal shift in the momentum the team has been steadily building throughout the season.

Saturday’s 250-lap NASCAR Xfinity Series race in the late afternoon is more than just

another stop on the schedule — it’s a test of rhythm, race craft and resilience., Alfredo also knows the opportunity ahead is one to seize.

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening with the Atlas 150, a combination event for the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East — adding another layer of excitement as the stars of the series take center stage under the Iowa lights.

Then on Sunday, August 3, the action continues with the return of the Iowa Corn 350 on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar — marking the 10th event in the second leg of the regular season and the launch of NBC’s broadcast portion of the season.

For Alfredo and the No. 42 team, every lap turned in the Midwest could bring them one step closer to the postseason. And should they find Victory Lane on Saturday, it wouldn’t just be a win — it would be a powerful statement in their Playoff pursuit.

● Anthony Alfredo Xfinity Series Career Stats: Entering Iowa, Alfredo has 139 NASCAR Xfinity Series races to his credit, earning a career-best third-place finish twice, most recently at Talladega Superspeedway after starting 11th in the 2024 edition of the Ag-Pro 300 for Our Motorsports.

Since 2020, he has earned one pole, five top-five, and 23 top-10 finishes and has an average finish of 19.9.

● Indianapolis Motor Speedway | Pennzoil 250 Race Recap: The NASCAR Xfinity Series made its lone visit to the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, taking on the flat, technical challenge of the 2.5-mile oval for 100 grueling laps of high-speed intensity and unforgiving competition.

The weekend began with promise for Anthony Alfredo and the No. 42 DUDE Wipes Mint Chill Chevrolet team, as the Young’s Motorsports driver showed solid pace in Saturday’s practice session at the Racing Capital of the World.

However, the team couldn’t translate that early speed into a stronger qualifying effort, settling for a 22nd-place starting position on the grid. From the drop of the green flag, Alfredo — like much of the field — found overtaking difficult, compounded by an ill-handling, tight race car that kept him fighting behind the wheel.

Crew chief Andrew Abbott and the team went to work, adjusting ahead of Stage 2. The car responded well early in the run, but as the laps wore on, the balance began to fade again, although not as badly as the first run, the handling woes once again hindered Alfredo’s charge through the field.

A relatively calm third and final stage saw the Young’s Motorsports team begin to make headway, with Anthony Alfredo steadily climbing through the field as the checkered flag drew near.

Positioned for a potential top-20 finish, Alfredo found himself in the middle of intense late-race jockeying — bounced around like a ping-pong ball in the closing laps.

The chaotic shuffling ultimately dropped him out of the top 20 on the last lap, leaving the No. 42 team to settle for a 23rd-place result despite their strong effort.

Now 21 races into the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, Anthony Alfredo and the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports team remain focused and forward-looking.

With the summer stretch winding down, every lap, every adjustment, and every finish takes on greater importance as they work to position themselves for a breakthrough victory — one that could launch them into the Playoffs and shift the momentum in their favor.

● Calling the Shots: Guiding Alfredo as crew chief of the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro is longtime crew chief Andrew Abbott.

On Saturday, he will be crew chief in his 151st NASCAR Xfinity Series race. In his previous 150 races, he has four top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.

The season’s 22nd race will be his third tango at Iowa Speedway as crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

● Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series at Iowa Speedway: This weekend’s Hy-Vee Perks 250 will mark Young’s Motorsports’ second NASCAR Xfinity Series appearance at “The Fastest Short Track on the Planet.”

Last summer, rookie Leland Honeyman Jr. finished an impressive 13th after starting 25th on the lead lap in a very competitive race that included an overtime finish.

The Mooresville, N.C.-based team is no stranger to Iowa Speedway.

Since 2013, Young’s Motorsports has entered 13 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races at the track, earning a best finish of 13th twice, but most recently in 2018 with dirt standout Tanner Thorson behind the wheel.

Over that span, the team has recorded an average finish of 21.2, building valuable experience at one of the most favorable tracks on the schedule.

● Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series History: Since entering the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024, the family-owned organization has logged 54 starts and maintains an average starting position of 25.8 and an average finish of 23.4.

Anthony Alfredo Pre-Race Quotes:

On Iowa Speedway: “Iowa Speedway was a challenging race last year for me for a couple of reasons, so I’m excited to go back with a new team and new setup.

“Hopefully, our approach works out and the extra practice time helps us get the car dialed in for the race.”

On Preparation for Iowa Speedway: “I’ve been watching last year’s race back because the repave made the return to the track quite a bit different from prior races there.”

On Iowa Speedway’s Most Unique Trait: “The repave doesn’t cover the whole surface, only the first few lanes, so you can’t run as high as you used to be able to.

“The surface in the corners also doesn’t wear the tires as much as the straightaway, which has not been repaved like the corners.”

On Keys to Success at Iowa Speedway: “Track position will be prominent at Iowa Speedway, since it was difficult to pass last year.

“Plus, you can’t afford to make any mistakes, so we have to be on our A-game this weekend and hope for the best.”

On Iowa Speedway Performance Expectations: “A top 15 would be a good finish for our team and help us get some momentum rolling ahead of Watkins Glen and Daytona in August.”

On Indianapolis Motor Speedway Finish: “Indianapolis is always a challenging race because track position is crucial, as passing is extremely difficult.

“We also run the Atlanta motor and aero package, which restricts the power of the cars, making the field more spread out only a few laps after restarts and passing even more difficult than it already is.

“I also believe it puts the smaller teams at an even bigger disadvantage. We put ourselves in a good position at the end of the race, but got used up on the final lap and lost a bunch of spots.

“It’s frustrating, but that’s racing.”

On Goals for the Second Half of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series Season: “We have had a lot of ups and downs throughout the first half of the race season, but I’m confident we can recover by bringing fast cars to the track and executing well throughout this second half.

“We need more top-10s and a couple of top-fives before the end of the season. Ideally, winning just one race before the Playoffs is our ultimate goal because it would completely save our season.”

Race Information:

The Hy-Vee Perks 250 (250 laps | 250 miles) is the 21st of thirty-three (33) NASCAR Xfinity Series races on the 2025 schedule. QUOTABLE /

Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet, on returning to Iowa Speedway: “We had a good weekend going there last year securing the pole, a stage win and leading a lot of laps before getting caught up in an incident. I think it’s going to be quite a bit different this year. I watched the IndyCar race, and it appeared the new pavement has changed quite a bit, and I imagine the grip level has changed quite a bit more, I don’t really know yet but it’s going to be different. But as I said before, we were good last year so hopefully we’ll be good again.”

Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet, on what getting the 15 points that come with the regular season championship would mean: “They’d be huge for sure. I’ve been on both sides of the coin there. We’ve been (in) years where we have not had many playoff points and I’ve had a couple years where we’ve had a bunch. I promise, it is a lot easier when you have a lot in the bank. That’s a much better way to go about it. The way the system is, with so many things kind of being out of your control, it’s nice to have something to fall back on. So of course, yeah, we want it all.”

William Byron, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet, on the team as it heads to Iowa Speedway: “Everyone works so hard on the No. 24 team. This is probably the best this team has been on all fronts. We keep finding the small things to improve on and I know there’s no quit. We ran really well in Indy even though the results don’t reflect it and now we’re heading to Iowa (Speedway) where I know we can run well. I really like that track so I’m excited to see what we can do.

Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet, on racing at Iowa Speedway: “Racing at Iowa (Speedway) is always a challenge but one I really enjoy. It’s a place where you’ve got to be aggressive but smart, and track position is huge. Last year we had to start deep in the field and fought our way up to eighth, so we know what it takes to get around there.”

TEAM CHEVY NASCAR RACE ADVANCE: Iowa Speedway

TEAM CHEVY ADVANCE
Iowa Speedway
August 2-3, 2025

The NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will head back to America’s heartland this weekend to take on Iowa Speedway, with the 7/8-mile oval welcoming the sport back for its second consecutive doubleheader event.

Chevrolet will look to earn its first trip to victory lane in NASCAR’s top division at the Iowa short-track, while the manufacturer will return to the venue as the defending winner in the Xfinity Series.

 Chevrolet at Iowa Speedway:

The NASCAR Cup Series’ sole visit to Iowa Speedway saw three Chevrolet organizations earn a combined five top-10 finishes – led by a pair of podium results by Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron (second) and Chase Elliott (third). A win in Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol would make Chevrolet the only manufacturer to earn a trip to victory lane in all three NASCAR national series at the Iowa short-track.

The Bowtie brand has tallied a total of 10 victories across the NASCAR national ranks at Iowa Speedway, including five in the Xfinity Series and five in the Truck Series. Chevrolet owns the first and most recent Xfinity Series wins at the Iowa short-track – both powered by a pair of JR Motorsports Chevrolet’s (Brad Keselowski – Aug. 2009; Sam Mayer – June 2024). Four Team Chevy Cup Series regulars have an Iowa triumph to their name – led by Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who leads the series’ active drivers with three Xfinity Series wins at the track (2011 sweep; May 2012). William Byron has made two trips to victory lane at the Iowa short-track, with one in the Xfinity Series (June 2017) and one in the Truck Series (June 2016). The pair of Richard Childress Racing teammates, Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon, also each have a NASCAR national series win at Iowa on their resume, with Busch owning one Xfinity Series victory (July 2010) and Dillon with one Truck Series victory (July 2010).

TEAM CHEVY TRIO BATTLES FOR REGULAR SEASON TITLE

The battle for the NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season Championship title is heating up with the top-four drivers sitting just 20-points apart. The four-way battle is led by a trio of Team Chevy drivers – Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott, William Byron and Kyle Larson. Byron has been a steady fixture atop the points standings through much of the regular season, but Elliott took over the lead prior to the Indianapolis race weekend after a stellar five-race stretch that saw the 29-year-old Dawsonville, Georgia, native make the move to the top from the fourth position and a 104-point deficit. Elliott and Larson have been familiar faces in the run for the regular season title in recent years – partaking in a three-way battle all the way to the final race at Darlington Raceway one year ago. The pair each have one regular season title on their resume, with Larson earning the honors in his championship season (2021) and Elliott taking the title in 2022.

Stenhouse Stellar Iowa Stats:

With just four races remaining in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and the No. 47 Hyak Motorsports Chevrolet team sit in a ‘must-win’ position in order to keep their championship hopes alive. Hungry for a trip back to victory lane, Stenhouse Jr. returns to a track where he has shared a fair amount of success over his NASCAR career. The 37-year-old Olive Branch, Mississippi, native leads the series’ active drivers in wins in the NASCAR national ranks at Iowa Speedway with three-straight Xfinity Series triumphs (2011 sweep; May 2012). In his last five starts at the Iowa short-track, Stenhouse Jr. has finished no worse than fifth, including a top-five finish in the Cup Series’ inaugural event last season.

EXTENDING A RECORD-SETTING STREAK

For the third-straight weekend and series-leading fifth time this season, Connor Zilisch and the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet team earned a trip to victory – taking the checkered flag in Saturday’s Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The triumph added onto an already dominate season for the Chevrolet camp in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with the 19-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina, native delivering the manufacturer its 19th win in 21 races. Dating back to Kyle Larson’s victory at Bristol Motor Speedway in April, Chevrolet has been the only manufacturer to pay a visit to victory lane in the division – heading to America’s heartland with a streak of 13-straight wins. Chevrolet is the only manufacturer in Xfinity Series’ history to hit a double-digit win streak in a single season – also accomplishing the feat in 1999 (10-straight), 2000 (11-straight) and 2022 (10-straight).

JR Motorsports Joins Elite All-Time Wins List:

Kissing the iconic bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was even sweeter for JR Motorsports with Connor Zilisch’s win earning the Chevrolet organization its 100th all-time NASCAR Xfinity Series win. Over JR Motorsports’ tenure in the series, 22 different drivers have contributed wins towards the organization’s monumental feat – led by series veteran and reigning champion, Justin Allgaier, who’s earned a quarter of those victories. JR Motorsports is just the fourth different organization to achieve the 100-win mark in the series, with Chevrolet’s Richard Childress Racing earning a spot on the elite list at Martinsville Speedway earlier this season.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

Ross Chastain, No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

What did you learn from last year at Iowa?

“The repave is the biggest thing we learned last year, trying to learn the new asphalt from the old asphalt. It was tough to pick up quickly. We learned the basement on air pressure with the tires last year, so our focus this weekend will be on how much the race surface has aged in the last year.”

Given your sponsor and your farming background, how important is the Iowa race to you?

“Obviously, Iowa Speedway is in the middle of farmland and even though they aren’t farming watermelons in Iowa, we all still have ag in common. Iowa is known for row crops but there’s a lot of ag everywhere we go and the area is important for what we are doing with the Busch Light Farming can and car this weekend. The Farming cans bring awareness to Farm Rescue which provides aid to family farms and ranches throughout the Midwest. It’s going to be a fun weekend.”

Justin Haley, No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

Coming off your best career result at Indianapolis, your home track, what are your thoughts heading into Iowa?

“Iowa was one of my favorites last season and I’ve always enjoyed racing there. I have raced at Iowa in all three NASCAR series and have good seat time there. We’ve had a good stretch lately with the No. 7 team and we’re building momentum each week. I feel like we are in position for a good result this weekend.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet

“Iowa was a unique racetrack last year; with the repaved corners and the old pavement straight aways, it made the track tricky. It will be interesting to see, after a year with the repaved corners, how the track feels. Last year, we had decent speed before the issues we had. I enjoyed driving the track and I’m looking forward to getting back there, continuing the find speed in our race car and putting together a strong weekend.”

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., No. 47 Hyak Motorsports Chevrolet

“I’m looking forward to going back to Iowa with NOS Energy Drink this year. We had a great run last June with a top-five finish. The track has aged a lot, so I’m hoping we can have another great run there.”

Michael McDowell, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

What did you learn at Iowa last year and what are you expecting to see this Sunday?

“Iowa was great. It was a fun weekend. I’ve raced there a bunch in Xfinity and ARCA. Even in years when I wasn’t running full-time in Xfinity, I’d still do the standalone races for (Joe) Gibbs (Racing) or whoever.

It was honestly my best track in Xfinity from a results standpoint, but going back there last year—it was so different. The track had aged in some areas, but then there was new asphalt and patches. It was a very different racetrack. It was still fun. Big crowd, big event. Going back this time, I think everyone is looking forward to having their cars drive a little better, getting over that bump in Turn 1 a little smoother, and not being so caught off guard by how challenging the track is. It’s another big opportunity for us.”

Carson Hocevar, No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

How do you feel about the Cup Series’ second visit to Iowa Speedway?

“I feel pretty good about it. We finished well there last year, and for the most part, we’ve been able to improve on those good finishes when we go back places. Iowa is a really fun track and the fans are always so excited when we come to town. It’s a great atmosphere that matches the racing on track.”

Shane van Gisbergen, No. 88 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

How do you assess your rookie season so far?

“The last month or two we really ramped up. It’s been amazing to get a couple of wins, and our oval side is getting better too. Building confidence and getting better every week, I feel like we are learning something every week and really enjoying ourselves too.”

With 25-minute practice session, what do you do to get up to speed quickly?

“Just trying to get out there and just go. My whole life, every series I raced we got multiple tires and long practices and normally a couple of practices before qualifying. Most tracks you only get a couple of laps in before the tires are gone and then you are just trying to battle the tire fall off. I love when we get the opportunity to run the long practices, it really helps me. Everything is about time and more races, (Cup) is a new experience for me. It’s so different than what I raced last year. The cars are a night and day difference. It’s basically like I started again, but I feel like I’ve been methodical about it.”

Daniel Suarez, No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

Confidence from Indy?

“Yes, it won’t show in the race results (27th), but we had a really good car last Sunday in Indianapolis. We got up to 15th and thought we were going to be a factor, but that restart stack up damaged our nose and just killed the car. When you bring a good car to the track, it gives you confidence that we will have another good car for the next week and the week after that.”

What were your thoughts on the Cup Series’ first visit to Iowa last year?

“It was a good weekend for us. We were fast, had a great strategy, and quick pit stops. The track was fun. It raced well. Honestly, it raced exactly how I thought it was going to. It was a three-lane racetrack. People were able to pass, which is a good thing. I thought it was good, to be honest. I’m pretty happy with the product that NASCAR brought.”

Connor Zilisch, No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet

“The bottom two lanes have been paved so Iowa Speedway is a bit of a unique racetrack, but it actually raced really well last year. My crew chief, Mardy Lindley, won the race there with Sam Mayer last year so I’m expecting to have a really good KOA Chevrolet when we get to the track this weekend. I’m excited to go there for the first time in an Xfinity car. The fans at Iowa are really awesome. The racetrack is kind of out in the middle of nowhere but people show up and support us which is really cool. I won the ARCA race there last year so that’s another track where I’m one-for one (smiles). I’m looking forward to figuring out that track in a new style of car. I’ll be going off the notes I had from the ARCA race last year and building on what I’ve learned so far this season.”

Homes Service Contractor Training Company, Top Rep, Doubles Down at Darlington

Screenshot

Mooresville, NC (July 30, 2025) Top Rep Training will be the primary sponsor for Spencer Boyd and the No. 76 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team at the historic Darlington Raceway later this year. Top Rep Training, built specifically for home service companies, was featured earlier this year at Nashville Superspeedway.

“I used to sell cars at Hendrick auto Group,” Spencer Boyd said. “I know how important sales training is. What Chuck and his group at Top Rep are doing is needed for contractors. We’ve got so many small business owners in the construction space watching our races that it is a great fit for Top Rep.”

Top Rep provides training and is built specifically for companies in roofing, painting, kitchen and bath remodeling, solar, window installation, and much more.

“I met Spencer when he spoke at a conference a couple years back,” remarked Top Rep Owner Chuck Thokey. “His energy and relatability really struck me as someone I’d like to work with one day. That day has come and I’m beyond proud to have a Top Rep truck in NASCAR! I feel it is the right space to market in and I know I’ve got the right driver, so I invite all those NASCAR fans that own home services businesses to attend Top Rep Boot camp. Simply put, it will improve their business.”

Boyd added with a bit of a smirk on his face, “It seems weird to say this but I’m low-key happy that this isn’t the throwback race. This paint scheme is too good not to showcase at the Lady in Black. I’m proud to represent Top Rep and look forward to meeting some of their customers in Atlanta next month.”

Spencer will be bringing the actual vinyl for the race truck hood for people to sign at the Top Rep Bootcamp in Atlanta on August 18. For more information on that event go to Top Rep Atlanta.

Stewart Friesen recovering from injuries sustained in dirt modified crash

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - MARCH 14: Stewart Friesen, driver of the #52 Halmar International Toyota, leads the field during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ecosave 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 14, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images)

Veteran racer Stewart Friesen is recovering after suffering serious injuries in a violent crash. The incident occurred during a Super DIRTcar Series event at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec, Canada, on Monday evening.

During the event, his No. 44 dirt modified car flipped onto its side, striking the outside retaining wall. It rolled multiple times before bursting into flames. In the aftermath of the initial impact, another driver, unable to avoid the wreckage, collided with Friesen’s disabled vehicle.

Emergency responders were quick to the scene, working diligently to extract Friesen from the car. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in Quebec for evaluation and treatment.

His wife, Jessica Friesen, has been providing updates on his condition through his social media account on X (formerly Twitter). She confirmed that Stewart has fractures to his pelvis and right leg and will require surgery to address his injuries.

In a post expressing gratitude, Jessica acknowledged the efforts of the safety teams and car manufacturers.

“Thank you to the manufacturers who have made dirt modifieds as safe as possible, and to the track crew for their patience and hard work getting Stew out of the car.”

She later shared that Friesen will be transferred to a hospital in New York on Wednesday, where he will undergo multiple surgeries in the coming days.

Friesen competes full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, where he has notched four career wins.

Further updates on his condition and recovery timeline are expected in the coming days.
